The Warrior of Hyrule

The Warrior of Hyrule

Game Versions
Smash 3DS
Link has two very different styles of playing. He has a very strong Items/range game,
and a fairly strong melee game.

This short guide will mainly focus on his melee game as you can work up some nice combos with his sword,
but combining with his range and items can be just as if not more effective.

Don't forget that Link can use the Hook Shot to grab the ledge to avoid opponents charging a smash waiting for you to get above the ledge and you can avoid a nasty KO.
Remember, you can't use it after an Up B, but you can use an Up B after the Hook Shot so choose wisely.

Also, if you press shield after Link is hit, just as he hits the ground, he will immediately get up, reducing vulnerability time to almost nothing. use this to your advantage.

COMBOS
there are a few combos to work on with link but here are two main ones that i have found work really well (on people who don't know your play style)
these will only seem to work towards the beginning because these can become extremely predictable very quickly, so unless your conditioning, i advise using them sparingly.

1. Grab up throw
Links Tether works well in grabbing unsuspecting players from a fair distance, however the 3DS taken its toll on him and is a lot shorter than it use to be, so be cautious as the punish window is VERY high after a failed attempt, HOWEVER, if you land, you can get a few hits in and throw them up in the air, link with slash them in the air and can leave them a little vulnerable, but ask fast cause this is only short, while in the air above you you can then hit them with an up air or up B.
Up air will get you good damage and possibly kill at a high percent, but your Up B, if hit right, you can lock them into your spin and take them to the roof and KO them.

2. Stunning Power Bow
This combo is for the use of custom moves as it requires the custom move Power Bow, which is Links Neutral B, the arrows don't travel far or do much damage if you don't charge it all the way, but if its completely charged you release an incredibly powerful shot that does about 24% and high KO rate, but watch out for reflects such as Marios' Cape, and Zeldas' Reflect, because it will come back and almost KO you, so be cautious.
You also have the choice to use Links custom side B, as the move Ripping Boomerang works more effectively than his regular gale boomerang, however the regular will work as well. (the second custom Boomerang will not)

The way this combo works is, your opponent needs to be somewhat close to you so that they get caught up in the multiple hits of the Ripping Boomerang, and as they are getting hit, this gives you enough time to charge a perfect Power Bow shot and hit them with it, they will have no time to reflect or get out of the way and they will receive the hefty damage if not get KO'd.

I hope this guide is helpful to you in mastering the Hyrule Warrior that is LINK
Good Luck
and please let me know if you have found and other combos, or moves that you have found effective when playing Link.
Lets try make this Character more recognized as the threat he truly is.

Nice
Needs some more content. Even as brief as it is, it still lacks important ATs, combos, moves, etc. Check out the Link boards. They have all you need to know.
