You can still SHL with Falco and get the same results from in Melee... in fact, you can SHDL with Falco and get the same results. >_>

Someone posted a video about it already. The lag is the same, it just cancels the animation altogether, but it still fires the laser. SHL and whatever you're talking about are no different except yours hits lower.

All of characters can dash attack cancel into a usmash... >_> The only questions are how hard it is to do and how useful it is if you do it right? Fox seems almost impossible to do it with, but his dashed usmash already goes far, so it doesn't really makes sense to even try in the first place...

You always run the risk of someone teching off the wall, but any attack that can knock them back hard enough will make them bounce off the stage. Falco's bair is a pretty good example of it it.
