    Actually, in Japan we don't even need a deposit. I just called up my local store, gave my name, and was told to pick up my copy at 10 AM on January 24th. So yeah, no excuses.

    Agreed. This is all coming (according to the link in the OP), from the Japanese equivalent of a Gamestop employee. Nintendo.co.jp and the Dojo still list 1/24, and even the website that is reporting a Japanese delay is very cautious about it, and says they are treating it as a rumor.
