Sakurai does not want Smash to be a competitive franchise
Smash series has always lacked depth... Competitive Melee tried to make the game look deeper than it actually was, but when it comes down to it, it's still a party game, gameplay-wise along with what was the developers' intention. Just compare Smash to real competitive fighting games, GG, SF...- kloud73
