He means when you get knocked back horizontally to DI up and that should put you in a better position to not get edgehogged so easily.

I had the same question as I wanted to record to my macbook pro since its easier to carry around than my PC. I found the EyeTV Hybrid from elgato looks like it can take AV inputs. And comes with the software to record and decode. The price tags a bit steep... but such is the life of a Mac user...
