Does anyone else hate when "You can't please everyone" is taken to the logical conclusion of "You shouldn't please anyone"? I don't think enough people talk about that.

Happy All Saints' and Souls' Season to all fellow Christians and non-Christians too, along with any other way you guys celebrate the late-autumn season (Halloween, Samhain, Dia de Muertos, Harvest, etc...)!
I am so extremely frustrated with myself, society, and humanity right now that it's eating away at my morals and sanity. I know none have reason to care, but in this moment of clarity, all I can say I can do right now is feed my spiteful impulses to regain some sense of agency. That's why I seem to be posting so erratically right now.

a big apology for getting angry against his campaigning to give small creators and IPs more recognition.
Since when I think about it: with all these legacy sequels nowadays, plus the copyright system limiting ideas, plus a human race that trends towards familiarity, we need to support "the little IPs" more than ever.
Looking back on the MvC community clowning on the guy who said "characters are just functions", I really wish people took it beyond the FGC and clowned on "gameplay first" stans for being just as self-righteous and single-minded as graphics fans. Because honestly, gameplay is nothing more than a function.
I see people clowning on Sony IE for ripping off Mario (and maybe a bit of Splatoon). I say: GOOD; I'd rather you rip off those things than make another space shooter or fantasy sword game.
The idea that quantity and quality are opposites is total BS, and I'd rather frame it as "quantity is a quality" (NOTE: not THE quality) while the true binary is "number vs. detail".
I really hate the sentiment that "Nintendo was right" to restrain their project scale and console power just because of the layoffs, cancellations, and other BS going on right now. Being too far ahead of your time is indistinguishable from being wrong.
Does it grind anyone else's gears that the PS5 and Xbox Series are judged on the lack of exclusives... while there's also big backlash towards third-party exclusives? They need to be judged on non-cross-gen games instead.

So many people seem to want Mario to be "happier" in Smash. I'd say make the canonically cheerful characters like Kirby and Pikachu angrier instead.
You gotta admit, with this chronic plague of companies/studios using a franchise to just pump out the same **** over and over again, Sonic Team is one of the most respectable studios for their consistency at exploring new avenues within a franchise (whether they're the best at implementing those new avenues is a different question).
If you guys think fanboys/fanatics/stans of any kind are bad, just remember that "everyone and everything sucks"-type people are worse. I say that as one of the latter.
Whether it's a franchise like Pokémon, a band like Metallica, a company like Disney or anything, making good criticisms means you're a fan. Haters are always awful critics. Good critics are fans whether they like it or not.

Damn, a lot of big Nintendo games released on this day.
XB Studios and Sony IE do everything in their power to make their network and customer service worth it and they suffer layoffs. Nintendo abuses copyright and has rudimentary network service and retain nearly all their employees. Business knows no fairness.
Maybe it's because my perception has been distorted by impractically large anime and RPG swords, but why do they always insist on giving Ganondorf's canon selves such tiny swords for him? You'd think the demonic "heir of Power" would always choose the biggest, baddest weapon he could get his hands on.
Now I'm starting to think there should be a "depreciation enforcement" law on the entertainment industry as a whole. Just to stop Nintendo, Disney, and others from using consumer demand to justify the lack of a price drop.
Sometimes I think that Nintendo always makes the lamest guys recurring or prominent (like always seeing Waluigi, Beedle, and Bandana Dee time after time instead of actually cool Geno, Skull Kid, and Marx).
But then I realize that most long-running franchises in general just suck at making the main stuff more interesting than the side stuff.
"Mankind knew that they cannot change society. So instead of reflecting on themselves, they blamed the Beasts." I have minimal knowledge of Guilty Gear, but that's a damn good warning if I ever read one.
I know people here have been ragging on Smash devs and fans alike focusing too much on the characters and too little on the gameplay, but I'm realizing that's just a big danger with crossover stuff in general.
Like even with intra-franchise x-overs like a hypothetical Xenoblade Warriors, I'm tired of talking about that because everyone's focusing on who would be in there (like that's a big issue), and not how such a game could incorporate Arts and Chain Attacks and whatever.
I'm starting to think that three installments is/should be the maximum life of a video game series' formula. It doesn't matter if the installments are released annually or once-a-gen; once you go beyond three installments, sticking on a "sequel gimmick" isn't enough at that point and the devs really need to rethink the series.
Sometimes I think Five Nights at Freddy's is the Call of Duty of indie games: got a lot of people into gaming, but negatively impacted their sector of the gaming market in several ways.

Am I alone in thinking that the movie theater is a trash entertainment medium?
Yeah, the screen is big and there's immersive audio, but you can't rewind if you didn't catch or understand something. Plus, you can't pause if you want to take a break/go to the toilet, so you either miss something if you go, or you intentionally forgo drinks and suffer through the movie with a dry throat.
While I'm also posting this in the Platform Fighter mods thread, I just want to get it out that some guy thought it would be a good idea to make Kraid playable in a knockback-based platform fighter... and did it.

I'm really worried that with this wave of layoffs in the AAA games sector, we're going to get a lot of anemic releases forced to be downsized due to these economic troubles. So pretty much like the current Mario spin-off wave, but likely with microtransactions.
I just had this thought that Pikachu and the Pokémon franchise as a whole at this current point is comparable in a way to Mickey Mouse and Friends c. 1950s-2010s in a way. They were largely declining in quality and relevance in proper media but still at the core of a massive merchandising machine. Will Pokémon ever get a director like Paul Rudish for Mickey that brings the former up with the times? Hopefully.
Now that I think about it, the SpaceWorld demo was one of the worst things to ever happen to Ganondorf. It just made edgy kids come out of the woodwork and want him to never fight without a sword, made the Zelda team think the same, and severely diminished well-deserved appreciation for his Smash portrayal.
People who complain about clones are children, but people who complain how the 64-Brawl characters are "outdated", "unfaithful", or "reference-light" are toddlers.

How would you feel about a proper ELO system for online? It’s very poor at the moment, as its still possible to get 4 player item matches when your using a competitive rule set. Maybe there could be a “casual” mode where ELO doesn’t affect it so you don’t have to worry about losing.
