Sakurai cares about it as a party game, not a competitive game. If there's a game breaking bug or a bug that forces players to git gud if they even want to win a casual match, then Sakurai will have johns about it and try to patch it up. Example is the Wuhu Loop glitch from Mario Kart 7.

Lucas feels a bit outreached, especially by blue-haired swordsmen. Soft counters though, just have to be more defensive. However, he needs space and movement. I feel that Snake's a pretty harsh counter.

Both Melee and Project M will survive. SSB4 will likely survive for a few years as well, but not as long as Melee.
