my Super Mario RPG hyperfixation is kicking in again I'm going to explode like an atomic bomb. Thinking back on that damn Grinch Hoax and I still want closure for it, in-hindsight it should've been obviously fake but the universe has a cruel way of making coincidences line-up and seem more than they are. Who made the image? What does the image look like in close-up detail? Was it blurry and distant because if gotten a good look it would've appeared obviously fake? Man, the base game cycle for Ultimate was wild. One of a kind.
And then Geno, oh Geno... I've been a fan of SMRPG since it released on the Wii VC and I've been rooting for him since Smash 4 DLC/pre-Smash Ult. I was so confident in him being added to Ultimate that I waited years and years for him to be added up until his Mii Costume came back. I can't hold a grudge against Square-Enix for choosing Sephiroth instead; A) Sephiroth is super cool and more villains is appreciated, if any character were to get in over Geno I'm happy it was him. B) Sephiroth is fun to play as and C) Square-Enix wanted to prioritize their own franchises over a fan request, it's not difficult to understand their rationale given they're a company and they'll do what maximizes their profits. FF7 Remake being a big commotion during that time definitely helps to sell the character and cross-promo potential too.
I'm incredibly happy we got the SMRPG Remake but it really feels now or never for the little guy, either Geno gets in the next Smash or he never gets in. With the cross-promo potential of the SMRPG remake and the fans still being at his side he's in the best position he's ever been in but if Square-Enix were to turn his inclusion down once again then it's done. It'd be over for the little guy, if a remake couldn't help him get in then nothing could. I'm really rooting for my little star boy but my expectations are tempered accordingly, we'll probably get Waluigi instead or something
