I think the problem with the Ice Climbers on 3DS might be even bigger than we think. Not only might multiple players being Ice Climbers tax the hardware, but there is also the the fact that multiple systems have to communicate and keep track of it all- something that was never a factor locally...

Technically, it doesn't mean anything. Real or fake, they still own the rights to all the characters. I believe technicalities are meaningless in this situation, though.
