Right? Thats the one thing that bugged me about the movie.

Disagree. What if you want to have a character show up as a surprise. You can lightly foreshadow it, but don't shove it in someone's face.
Imagine if the Thales from Fire Emblem randomly was shown in the prologue or mentioned immediately. His reveal later in the story would lose all impact.
I would advise against showing all your main characters. That's how you get a bloated, stiff opening of exposition and a million random people showing up. Your gonna forget half of them and probably get bored from the awful movie pacing.
