On the one hand that’s a shame cause Luca was great. On the other hand that’s good cause Turning Red was awful

I really really don't think it's good to say "oh this awful thing preventing people from sharing their more personal stories is good because I didn't like 1 (one) of their personal stories."

You're saying it's good that they're focusing less on more personal stories because you didn't like Turning Red, that's the word you used, "Good"

I don’t know who made that statement but any public facing corporate figure who calls their own company’s movies a “director’s catharsis” in such an implicitly derogatory way should probably be fired immediately. Incredibly petty thing to say publicly.

It's a really weird thing to say because this is Pixar we're talking about, the studio that has outright memetic status for how emotional and personal their movies are.

Doesn’t mean everything they make is objectively good. The two examples cited were a movie I loved and a no I couldn’t stand hence why I was able to call it a shame and a good thing. There’s no true guarantee of quality

fogbadge Nobody said every personal story made by Pixar is objectively good. We’re saying it’s good that they’re able to make those stories.

Also you’re saying “on the one hand it’s bad because of this reason but it’s also good because of this reason” and we are criticizing you for the reason you said it’s bad. The fact you have a reason to also believe it’s good is irrelevant.

How is it irrelevant?

Because we’re criticizing the logic behind one of your points but not the other point
