i dont think "sakurai has a ghost writer" is a nutjob joke proposition anymore, there has to be something up with how he keeps on disparaging fundamental traits of his most successful game.

That or he has some newfound regrets about how he went about certain aspects of the game and is secretly (maybe that should come with giant airquotes idk) venting some of them here. If so... whatever the next game might end up being's going to be interesting, to say the least.

I really, really, do not like making conspiracy theories about artist intent and supposed corporate interferrance, it's something that's never had good effects, and a trap I've fallen into multiple times and feel like I've grown out of, buuuut... god damn, how else can you explain the creator of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate of all games, who has been credited for writing and directing the game's marketing materials, criticising game trailers that take ages to go from CGI to gameplay?

I'll admit too, this "conspiracy" I proposed might also just be me projecting; my personality isn't consumed by hatred for the ballot and trailers like you, it's more like... cynical retrospective/regretful feelings of "hrm maybe all this wasn't a good idea after all, maybe I shouldn't have gotten so excited over all of this back in the day".

I guess I will say that I don't actually believe Sakurai has a ghost-writer or is being forced to make games (in a way) he doesn't like or anything specific like that, the only negative things I can really say for certain is that he has game design mentalities I fundamentally disagree with, a mild ego, and can come off as pro-capitalist (only one of those is even remotely damning)... but the contradictions he's said on his YouTube channel are certainly raising flags in my mind, like there's gotta be something deeper going on?

Well, I mean... hey, if I created the most popular, highest selling crossover of all time, I'd probably develop a big ego and odd mentalities too, let's be real, lmao.
