How do you feel about studio ghibli adapting British books?

Just because I'm American doesn't mean I prefer westerns. Japan makes shows with eastern influences all the time. It ok to take inspiration from somewhere else.

Sorry but I find the whole Japan should stick to "eastern" audiences a little jarring. Let them do what they want to do.

That's not what I am saying whatsoever, of course Japanese animators can make whatever they want and appeal to whatever demographic they want (see: my PFP originating from a super Western-inspired Japanese game), and should be allowed to use whatever IP they want, but something kinda rubs the wrong way about WB commissioning a Japanese anime, and making a big deal of how "anime" it is, for the sake of appealing to Westerners if that makes sense? I can't find any proof that the Rick & Morty Anime is airing or streaming in Japan at all... I guess now I say it like that it is a little silly, heh, yeah. The whole mention of an "Eastern flair" and such was a bit unnecessary, that's more just a case of me disliking overly-faithful adaptations, I didn't really mean "fill it with pagodas and tengu", but it totally comes off that way and for that I apologise. From what I gather, the show does have a different tone and vibe, even if it is the same characters and world rather than a complete reimagining. My discomfort is entirely on the Warner/Adult Swim part of this exchange, and all things considered isn't really rational, just a bad vibe in relation to marketing and distribution. I've added some strikethroughs to the original post of the stuff I don't really stand by.
