I think it’d be fun to have a cryptid that’s actually an ongoing mystery even to the player. You can’t actually find and obtain it, so you can only piece together clues about what it could be from folk tales, blurry photographs, ect. Maybe across games they’d slowly flesh it out but still leave the fanbase in the dark. The actual truth of it would never meet the expectations of the players’ speculation, after all.
