Not necessarily, there is a difference in what is ideal, and what is practical. I do think that her removal is now a possibility, not a very likely one though.

I am actually a Sheik fan, but Impa is the more plausible choice hands down. If Sakurai decides to separate the character, Sheik's excuse (she is Zelda, therefore she is a viable character on the roster) will have been omitted thereby giving Sakurai the option to replace her. This is not the only situation that might actualize though.

I have suspicions in regards to how this might pertain to Toon Zelda. Obviously the consensus is that Sheik might now just be a separate character, it might be a valid notion. I cannot fathom what the point would be, but this is Sakurai we are talking about.

I see. I was simply curious about your comment on people saying the Phantom's an assist. What are your thoughts on that one?

(I did not see your last reply before I responded) If he did it, it was probably to make the roster look larger and more impressive.

It is most certainly a move of Zelda's. This might entail a move-set overhaul as opposed to anything character related. However, introducing an assist trophy within a character reveal would be a first for Sakurai. Not only that, but we have gotten a lot of reveals, even Skullkid another Legend of Zelda AT.

Another one (assist trophy) that is highly associated with Zelda introduced without the supplement of introducing her others moves is a blatant reason to believe that it is a move. There will not be three Zelda assist trophies, perhaps two (even then that isn't likely). So Tingle might actually be playable in that event. A fail to see why such a minor character would be considered for AT status.

The roster would look more impressive; however, we must consider that traditionally Zelda mains rely on Sheik. So her removal would indicate that Zelda is going to be getting a revamp. When it comes down to it, it is very possible that he decided to remove the two. With the relevance of Skyward Sword, it is difficult to comprehend why he wouldn't take the opportunity to make the roster more ideal.
