The Rivals of Aether team has recently revealed that a previously announced DLC pack for the game, as well as rollback netcode, are coming on February 3rd. This update is completely free for all players.
There was a problem fetching the tweet
The DLC pack comes with four characters in total: Mollo, Hodan, Pomme, and Olympia. Originally created by fans for the game’s Steam Workshop page, the creators of these four fighters have worked directly with the Rivals team over the past year to bring their creations to the base roster.
These characters fit right in with the world of Aether, each representing one of the four elements (fire, water, air, and earth) as well as being based off of an animal of some kind. Also included in the pack are new stages, skins, runes, and music for these fighters.
Releasing alongside the DLC is rollback netcode for the PC version of the game. Steam players will be able to experience more fluid online matches, which is a must for the fast-paced gameplay of Rivals. The Steam version of the game has the DLC currently available through its Rollback Beta. Thankfully, though, Switch players are able to experience the patch early as well.
While it was not announced alongside the new content and online system, Dan Fornance - creator of Rivals - stated on Twitter a few weeks ago that the Xbox One will be receiving Rivals of Aether Definitive Edition eventually, but it has been put on the backburner to make way for the DLC and rollback netcode patch. Linux and Mac ports are also planned for the game’s future.
Author’s Note: I personally can’t wait to play as Olympia. What are you most excited for in this patch? Let us know in the comments below!
