I see this with just about every character, but none so much as Falcon. Do you begin your matches by telling your opponent to come on, or perhaps to show you their moves? Taunting at the start of a match, to me, is like saying "Good luck" or "Have fun" without actually having voice chat. It's called taunting in the game, but really, it's respectful.

The downside, of course, is those who do not offer us the same respect and use this opportunity for free hits or charge-ups. This is shameful, and is not the will of Falcon.

What do you do? I can't be the only one who feels this way.

If you are playing Captain Falcon, you should ALWAYS TELL YOUR OPPONENT TO SHOW THEIR MOVES.

I'm from Missouri, which is the Show-Me state. My answer to you now will be obvious, I taunt with "Show Me Ya Moves!". Though there is a dependent factor that differs how I taunt, whether facing forward or backward. If I suspect they'll be aggressive, I will turn around very quickly & taunt with Show Me Ya Moves so that my taunt's end-lag finishes quicker, to avoid punish.

However, that is not how I wish to taunt. I want to Salute them face-to-face, and taunt proudly. Owell

Actually, I do taunt proudly front-ways, only if their movement speed isn't quite fast to approach me so quickly.

Only in Falcon dittos, as only Falcon players seem to appreciate the sacred Falcon code.

Almost every Captain Falcon ditto I play in For Glory starts with both of us doing a "Show Me Your Moves." Captain Falcon dittos are the most fun matches

Same here, haha. I love that there's an unwritten code, probably even among casual players.

I begin all matches by telling everybody to show me their moves. Oftentimes they let me finish my taunt, and one time I even had a Ness player respond with 'Okay!' before we fought. I was glad to see he took his opportunity.

Its our duty as Falcons to ask for their moves. If you don't, you may never see their moves and thus not have a good match.

Falcon dittos demand the taunt. Also, I only try to kill with the knee or Falcon Pawnch in dittos. Its the only respectable way to bid farewell to your fellow Falcon

Me, as well. And everyone seems to know to do the "show me your moves" taunt. I have never gotten another one at the start of the fight.

How else would your opponent know that he needs to demonstrate his moves?
No question about it. It's the courteous thing to do.

Met a falcon on for glory last night. Every match started with a taunt or three. Not even a question.

Matches with Falcons are so much better than regular matches.

It just adds to the other players' personality so much and makes me feel like I'm playing against an actual human.

And don't even get me started on the dittos. Two matches. Non-stop Falcon Punches.

You go ahead and taunt and I'm going to shove a knee in your face. I'll taunt while you're flying away.

I taunt at the beginning to see what item I get as Pac-Man. Although really I like messing around with people before an actual fight begins. There was one time I was playing against a Ness as DP, and we were having fun messing with arrows and PSI Magnet, when he took damage accidentally. We both stood there for a second before he put is Magnet up again so I healed him deliberately, and then we taunted and the real fight began.

I was in a Falcon ditto earlier today. I taunted after I got the kill and he just drops from the respawn platform and b-air me in the middle of my taunt and I died.
Never felt so disrespected in my life .

I'd honestly giggle if that happened. "SHOW ME YA M-*pow!*"

I remember I did something similar to a Jigglypuff who rested me. I dropped down from the respawn platform and landed a perfect knee. She wasn't taunting, but she was resting, the poor thing...

Weeeeeeellllll...I did use up-taunt (accidentally), so maybe he punched me for my questionable taunt choice..

Nothing wrong about Kneeing a Resting puff as long as you hit her as she's waking up so she can witness you delivering justice.

Maybe slightly off-topic, but I got into a match once with a Falcon that only used his up-taunt. I died a little inside.

I sure as hell don't, and if anybody does, I'll try to get the first hit on them while they're taunting.

Now I'm curious... why? Do you need that first hit that badly?
I don't need it. I just hit them out of principle. This is sparring match, not a taunting one. Besides, they felt like taunting? Fine, I felt like hitting them. Why not?

I feel like this thread should be moved since it isn't really specif to Captain Falcon even if it is mainly him you guys are talking about. Anyways, whenever I am in a good mood I always start with a taunt no matter what character I am using. I usually start with a taunt when I am using Captain Falcon's "Show me your moves" and Kirby's "Hi" taunt.

I honestly consider it as a greeting, but suit yourself.
Well you shouldn't "consider" it a greeting, it IS a greeting there is no other reason why a player would do that. I hate when people hit me during my opening taunt, it is like you saying "Let's have a good match" and them responding with "Yeah, how about you just die so that my win ratio can go up". I honestly find hitting someone during that not only cheap, but also disrespectful for the reason mentioned above. It is like if your friend came over to your house and when they say "Hey" you just punch them in the face and close the door.

I think it makes the difference between a friendly match and a "LET'S FIGHT TO THE DEATH SUPER SERIOUSLY" match. No reason why you shouldn't just let the guy taunt you, at least... but hey, like I told Warlock*G, suit yourself. You do what you want to do. But don't think you're going to be considered a good sport about it, because you aren't going to.

Reminds me of another thing I sometimes do: Falcon Kick offstage whenever my opponent SDs for a dumb reason (for example, whiffed recovery). Most opponents go "wha~? Thank you!!!" and keep playing with me after that event for a long time, even if I utterly destroy them... It pays to be nice, most of the time.

When I drop the Captain, I like to open with his signature taunt. If I just badly beat the opponent, I'll start with a "CAHM AWN" instead. When I'm Marth, I go for the Up taunt, because it looks very honorable, or the down taunt, because I want his eyes on me when I destroy him. When I'm Fox, I tend to stick to his down taunt, unless I just got a flashy kill, in which case I juggle my gun.
As for the up taunt, I like to use it before a Falcon punch, it looks very nice.

I feel like Captain Falcon's up taunt is meant to be only used a celebration for landing a Falcon Punch, it just feels so natural to do it after landing it.

If I see another Falcon taunting at the start of the match, I'll consider them to be a member of the Falcon brotherhood and treat them accordingly. Usually a long series of intense games follows.

As for me, I rarely taunt at the start of the match unless there is another Falcon present. Unfortunately it presents a very tempting opportunity for less honourable players to rush in and get a free hit - I'm surprised at the number of people who will resort to this, so I've stopped offering pre-match taunts unless I know the opponent.

I don't use up-taunt unless it's just before a Falcon Punch or after a mistake.
