First of all, just because this rumor is false doesn't mean the game absolutely can't have downloadable content.

Second, as stated above, there was no interview with Sakurai with confirmed details about DLC.

Finally, Reggie did use Brawl as an example for Wii's DLC functionality, but that doesn't confirm whether or not it's actually possible.
