The gamestop first round prize is a trophy. I stopped by gamestop after I got off of work and one of their employees informed me that first place will win a trophy, not a copy of brawl. I'm sorry if this information has already been posted, I searched but found nothing.

Even though its only a trophy I'd still like to win it, if i do ill post a pic here :)

Well, thanks for the information.
It would be nice for them to give something... of substance, but hey, the tournament should be fun, regardless of the outcomes/prizes.
Three more days!

I agree with you DZAN. I'm just doing the tourny to have fun. I hope its competitive, that would make getting the trophy that much sweeter. I can only imagine what the trophy looks like.

the one by my house gives a free copy of brawl, and ive been playing with H2YL and TA for weeks. good **** myself

however there was some confusion with the "rules", the guy running the thing didnt even seem to know what he was going to do, but from what he told me, it will probably look like this

64 man bracket, 1vs1, single elimination, random seeding
items on
1-3 minute time match
random stage
must use gamestop controllers (most likely wii-motes and nunchuck)

also, i doubt they will have all the characters and all the levels unlocked.

id say the rules are pretty lame, but ill probably still win

Yeah, our GameStop is rewarding a trophy too. The guy there also said that they might reward 50 and 100 dollar gift cards on the 2nd and 3rd round.

That kinda sucks. I'm going to the Midnight release, and I was hoping to be able to secure a copy of Brawl by those means.

Why would people who are going to the midnight release not play in a free Brawl tournament where-in you're likely to win? I mean the odds of there being many people in your area that know more about the game then someone who frequents Smashboards must be rather small. Go, win, get whatever you get, then get the game if you don't win it. In the end you get to play the game early against real people.

Yeah, just talked to my gamestop today. It's a trophy. I think I'm gonna try to get a pot going depending on how many people there are, divide that by 55ish dollars and ask everyone to put that much into a pot that the winner keeps. Just enough for a copy of brawl.

a trophy?? wow...i am sure this is what people really want. a trophy to display above their bed and look at every now and then, when they could just have the actual game, why would they give out a trophy?

Stupid? Hell no. It's amazing. If I win it I'm going to put it on the TV in my college suite. >:D

Although I would way rather have something more useful. :/
