Jake is definitely dropping Yoshi
Every time I do a down tilt and try to grab out of it (usually on fox/falco), I always jab when I press the grab button. Anyone know how to avoid jabbing, or why it is even jabbing in the first place?

Ever notice that occasionally when you try to jab > grab, you will jab > second jab instead? That's because an "expectation period" exists after you jab where it almost wants you to jab again. Pressing Z during this time while result in another jab. However, if you press Z after the short expectation period is finished, you will grab normally.

I'm guessing the dtilt has the same effect?

Just wait a very brief moment before you grab. I'm guessing you're just grabbing slightly too early.

1) Z = shield + regular attack (read: R+A).
2) If you're getting a jab, you're probably hitting z during the IASA frames. I dont think you can shield during IASA frames (or not all of them), so take R out, that leaves you with A)
3) To fix this, JC grab.
