I think I roll too much

After watching a bunch of tournaments and matches with sheik I noticed that I roll during a match about 4 times as much. I heard that you shouldn't rely on it too much. What should I do for alternatives to rolling. I mostly play against my friend who plays Falco and finding myself rolling a lot to avoid his Dsmash and that B-over vanish attack:mad: (I don't know the proper name)

Rolling isn't that bad when you first start playing smash.

However when you progress to the higher levels of smash, you see people rolling a lot less.

Learn how to WaveDash and Dash Dance.

well rolling gets predictable after a short while, and there are moves that are meant to punish rolling into someone (marths neutral air, for it hits twice, and actually almost everyones downsmash is anti-roll. Also, dashdancing and wavedashing can be almost useless for some characters (link), but for others its a necessity to play competively (luigi, ice climbers, and captain falcon)
Rolling isn't too horrible as long as you do it no more than 3-5 times a match.

Yes, many moves end fast enough to attack again and punish your roll. Shiek's dashdance isn't that good, but try WDing back when you see an attack (dsmash, fsmash, etc.) coming out to avoid it.

Rolling is just a habit you do just to avoid something right now and it may be the only way you know how to get away. So I would say add sidestepping and WD in the situations you have and see which one works the best to add to your game.
