Smash Cadet
Yoshi is fun to play as, but usually the one aspect that's most troublesome for me (and many other Yoshis I believe) is landing the killing blow, and on a lesser level getting gimps. Let's share with each other our most reliable and not-so reliable methods for finishing off an opponent's stock. Hopefully we can all see and try ways we might not have before and bring that extra edge to our Yoshi's killing potential. You can be character-specific if you want. If anyone wants to chime in with frame data on setups, like how fast B-air -> U-smash is or something, that'd be appreciated, too.
I'll try to edit in all possible suggestions posted here to build a nice list for everyone to see.
KO Attack Setup
> Grab Release -> U-smash = Metaknight, Ganondorf, Squirtle, Lucas, Wario, Popo, Ness, and Donkey Kong
> Grab Release -> U-air = Wario and Ness
> (Airborne enemy) Jump -> U-air or bait the airdodge then U-air/DJ U-air
> Jab 1 -> Down-B
> (Airborne enemy) Short hop/Full hop Egg throw -> Glide forward/DJ -> U-air/N-air/F-air
> B-air/Airdodge through opponent -> slide away on ground -> F-smash
> B-air through opponent -> N-air before landing
> FH(First Hit) B-air -> U-air/U-smash
Gimp Tactics
> Chain Grabable characters (from easiest to hardest): Metaknight, Ganondorf, Squirtle, Pikachu, Diddy Kong, Captain Falcon, Bowser, Lucas, Charizard, Sonic, Wario, Ike, Link, Falco, Zero Suit Samus
> Grab Release at Edge of Stage -> Run-off F-air = Sheik and Squirtle
> Grab Release at Edge of Stage -> Run-off Egg Lay = Fox, Falco, and Wolf
> Grab Release at Edge of Stage after grabbing opponent during their Up-B recovery (no pummeling required) = Snake, Sonic, Mr. Game and Watch
> Run-off N-air/F-air/D-air
> Egg throw -> N-air/F-air/D-air
> Short hop non-FF D-air -> Reverse DJ N-air (usually a stage spike)
> Troll Setups & Tactics (read: try making these work and we'll fly you to next year's Apex )
> Dair > Egg Roll > Fair Spike (credit to Z'zgashi)
> Dair > Egg Roll > Fair Bait > Sharky Upair (credited to Sharky)
NOTE: Attempt Sharky U-air at your own risk. All attempts seem to result in immediate air tripping to your death before U-air comes out, but please continue to overcome this obstacle for Yoshi's sake.
