When: (All times, except for date of event, are subject to change)

Saturday, November 22nd 2008

- Expect check in to start at 10:30am
- Teams and Singles Pools will begin @ 11am
- Teams and Singles brackets will begin @ 2pm

Entry Fees:

- Singles: 15$
- Doubles: 20$ Per team (10$ per player)
- Spectators: 5$ (Those who come to watch, not play)

Pot Split

- 1st: 60%
- 2nd: 30%
- 3rd: 10%

Rules:

• 3 Stock

• 7 minute timer

• Items are set to "off" and "none"

• All sets with the possible exception of winner's finals, loser's finals, and the championship are best of 3 matches (best of 5 and above is recommended for any "finals" matches)

• In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors

• No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.

• In team matches, the ports will be determined in a 1221 fashion; whoever wins the RPS will choose first, then the opposing team will get their ports, and then the teammate of the RPS winner will get the last port.

• If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage.

• Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned.

• If a game ends with Bowser doing his suicide klaw and it ends in sudden death, the sudden death will be ignored and that game will count as a win for Bowser.

• You are responsible for your own controller and name tag. Any malfunctions or errors that occur are your responsibility, so bring an extra controller if possible and always check to make sure you're using the correct settings BEFORE a match is played. If a match is to be restarted due to controller functions, it must be agreed upon by both parties.

• Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.

• Wiimotes and Classic Controller users should know to take the batteries out of their controllers after finishing a set; not only will this save battery life, but it prevents accidental intereference and delay for tournament matches.

• After a match has been called, if a player is two minutes late he will receive a warning. At 4 minutes late, he will be given a loss for the first game of the set. After six minutes, he will be given a loss of the entire set.

• Resolving Ties: Any games ending in time running out should always be decided by stock, and then percents. If percents are the same or both players die simultaneously, there will be a 1 stock overttime. Bowsers suicide claw is exempt from this rule.

• Stalling is banned.

Stalling: The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs most end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling.

***Addition Rules for doubles:

• Life Stealing is allowed

• Set team attack to ON

***ALL DRUGS AND ALCOHOL ARE BANNED! Do not bring any type of alcoholic drink or any type of drug for you risk being disqualified and thrown out by security without refund.

Format:

1. Opponents choose their characters for the first match *
2. Opponents start the stage striking procedure
3. Each player may announce one stage to be banned for counterpicks of the set
4. The first game is played, using the stage chosen during step 2
5. The loser of the previous match announces the next match's stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter Stage List

Hotels

If any of you plan on staying for the night, there are several hotels, motels and inns located no more then 5-10minutes away from the event venue.

The most expensive one is the Westin Prince Hotel located on York Mills Road 5 minutes east of the tournament venue. This is high class for you who have the $$$ to spend.
Westin Prince Hotel‎: 900 York Mills Road, Toronto, ON M3B 3H2‎ - (416) 444-2511

A tiny bit cheaper is the Novotel located north of the venue, about 10 minutes, on Yonge St.
Novotel Toronto North York‎: 3 Park Home Avenue, North York, ON M2N 6L3‎ - (416) 733-2929

The cheapest is the Willowdale Inn, perfect price for a place to simply sleep well. This one is about the same distance North of the tournament venue as the Novotel.
Willowdale Inn‎: 170 Willowdale Ave., North York, ON M2N 4Y6‎ - (416) 850-6666

These are the closest to the tournament venue. If you aren't interested in any of these hotels, you can search on Google for others that you may find a bit further around the area.

We will also be recording several matches and have them posted soon after the event so you can look back and replay thrilling moments.

A massive screen and projector will be displaying the best matches live so everyone can have a great view, the screen will be right above the stage and on the stage there will be a station specifically for finals!

You can leave any comments or feedback here. And feel free to bring any set ups (TV's Wii's Brawl) The more the better. We will have plenty of space to put them.

I'm coming, I don't think pre-registration will be necessary though if the venue holds 300 people, because tops this will get is 100 people unless OOS people decide to show up

$20 is steep for people who don't seriously expect to get very far.

Should I pay the spectator's fee? Are there pools to enjoy beforehand?

I'd love to come to this, but it's at least 3 hour drive, 9:30 is just too early for me. 11 is probably the earliest I could make it =/.

10:30 sounds more reasonable, I may be able to make it to that, I'll get in touch with the rest of our crew and see if they want to hit this up.

There will be pools before the finals brackets. This will be a double elimination tournament, so you are guaranteed a minimum of two tournament games. Someone always has to lose, if you happen to lose 2 games right away, don't worry! There will be TV's + Wii's set up to play Casuals! Crew Battles! Or whatever you want to do with them.

Also when the tournament is over, doesn't mean the fun is over. People can stick around and play as much as they want until the end of the day. And who knows, if time allows it, we might hold a second tournament at no charge with a small prize.

There will be free parking in the schools parking lot, it fits hundreds of cars.
