General Rules and Regulations
-If a player does not show up on time for their match, they will be given a 2-3 minute grace period before it will go down as a forfeit.
-In the case of a TV/GameCube malfunction, the game will be restarted from the beginning, no matter what time the crash happened.
-Once a match is finished, players need to remain at their stations with the results screen still present so a store associate may write down the winner of the match.
-All decisions made by the store associates are final
-Players must conduct themselves in a reasonable manner. Permanent ejection of a player from the tournament is at the store associates’ discretion.
-Spectators may not communicate with a player while he or she is competing. Breaking of this rule will result in a warning. A second violation will result in ejection of the spectator and/or disqualification from the tournament.
-Any sign of cheating will also result in disqualification.(Wave Dashing and L-Canceling are LEGAL)
-Players must report to their station immediately after their match is announced. If after 2-3 mintues a player has not reported to their station they will forfeit the match.
-Spectators will be allowed in designated areas only.
-No Refunds of the entry fee will be provided.
Controllers
-You are responsible for bringing your own controller.
-Extra controllers for tournament use will not be provided by the store. However, controllers will be available for purchasing throughout the tournament.
-Controllers must be official licensed Nintendo brand.
-Controller modifications of ANY kind (short-hop mod, L-trigger mod, etc), except for cosmetic changes (paint job, different colored plastic), are banned. Store associates may randomly inspect any controller at their discretion. If you are caught using a banned controller you will be immediately disqualified from the tournament.
Game Rules and Regulations(some rules from mango juice =P)
-Every round will consist of best 2 out of 3 games(a match)
-Lives will be set at 4 stock with a round time of 8 minutes.
-Ties are broken by remaining lives, then %. If both criteria are tied, then the Sudden Death match will be played out.
-First stage is random from the Neutral stages listed below under “Stage Selection”
-Each player is allowed to reset the random stage once; this forces a new random stage to be picked. If the new stage has been previously reset by either player during the same set, that stage is reset again. (Random Stage Reset)
-The loser of the first match will announce a new stage to play on for the next game. The winner will then be allowed to switch characters, followed by the loser. Apply the same logic for the third match.
-Each person may choose one counter-pick stage to be disabled for the entire set at the START OF THE MATCH, after characters have been chosen but before the random stage has been picked. You may not ban neutral stages.
-Items will be turned off.
Stage Selection
-The first game of the set will be random and will consist of following only: Final Destination, Battlefield, Yoshi’s Story, Fountain of Dreams, Dreamland 64 & Pokemon Stadium
-For the following games, stages also known as “Counter-pick Stages” will be permitted and will consist of: all Singles Neutral stages plus Pokefloats, Rainbow Cruise, Jungle Japes, Kongo Jungle 64, Mute City, Brinstar, Green Greens, Corneria. Rainbow Cruise,
Other Rules & Special Issues
-Glitches used to stop your opponent from controlling their character or indefinitely freezing them (ex. Ice Climber freeze glitch), or any glitch or trick that freezes the game or makes it unable to be finished are banned and will result in the immediate forfeit of the entire match and disqualification from the tournament.
-No Wobbling
-Tactics such as Peach’s Wallbombing and Jiggly’s Rising Pound are allowed as methods of recovery or to maneuver around the stage.
-We encourage everyone to enjoy themselves. In respect to the players, spectators, and the store, please clean up after yourselves, throwing all trash in specified containers, and refrain from smoking within 50 ft. of the store. While trash talk is part of the gaming community, please keep it clean. Blatant rudeness and poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated. Good luck!
