i think seeing how the new mario game xcomes out before brawl that it should get a stage of its own...i think it should be a stage with less gravity so your character can jump higher and further because of this i think the boundaries should be a little farther than usual! discuss

Sounds like a pretty cool idea. It'd be interesting to have a stage with a different amount of gravity. It'd probably look pretty cool too. Definitely a stage that could appear.

I approve of a Mario Galaxy stage, but I don't think the core physics of the game should change, that's just a bit gimmicky...
Perhaps it could work like Brinstar depths, but continue rotating slowly in one direction. I think that would get the feel of Mario Galaxy across, without making the stage over complicated.

Finally got round to designing a stage.

The stage rotates clockwise at a constant speed. The visible/playable area is in the dotted-red-line box.

I live in a place called socorro which in spanish
If youve played Yoshi's Island and got as far as the boss battle with Raven (a big fat penguin like bird called Raven) but anyway he try's to knock you off these spheres that you can walk all the way around and if you get high enough theres a stary background but instead of paper cyrcles it would be more 3D spheres/planetiodes what do you think about jumping from planet to planet.A battle between Bowser and Mario on that stage would be EPIC!!!

I agree with atari's idea. with it rotating slowly constantly, it takes away that random factor of brinstar depths.

I could see a moving planet type stage similar to Pokefloats or something like that, but I doubt the gravity idea.

It would be cool, but i sort of doubt it. Super Mario Galaxy is a little TOO new for it to be added. Thing is for the Mario fans here, we might have trouble thinking which to play when you go to your Wii: Brawl or Galaxy?

I agree that a Galaxy stage would be perfect for brawl, it could be like slowly moving around kinda like pokefloats I guess...

This would be cool if it was actually like Galaxy. You know, a complete planetoid which you can walk all the way around like in the game. It'd be funny trying to play on the bottom of it. With this, you'd have to do extra powerful moves and/or wait till high %s for a KO.

That sounds like a good idea. Just a nice little round planet, but the gravity thing isn't necessary. The Star Fox level doesn't even have that.

I like MM's idea of having a planet in the center as the main stage and have the gravity refitted for that planet. It would be just like galaxy in that you could walk 360 around the planet and the only way to KO a player is to send him flying up, since there is no bottom.

I think, for this idea to fulfill its full potential, it'd NEED to be a level in Subspace Emissary. Not a Vs. Stage - all the upside down stuff will make people nauseous at competitive play - but yeah, Giga Mega Hyper Bowser Clown Car rotating round all those planets, Subspace Emissary Boss.

No. Let's not have a stage devoted to spoiling a game that will only have been out for almost a month. The abundance of Twilight Princess spoilers is bad enough.

It's not really a spoiler.. there would be a stage based on the basic gameplay. Bridge of Eldin is hardly a spoiler.

An area of Hyrule, a boss and recurring character, two items, and mention of Barnes. The game's only been out for a year. That's simply unreasonable and your fanboyism can't mask that.

I like what you said, and if you try to ko someone right or left they just would stay on the planetoid flying 360  the only way is up, I like that

_____Well, the game is not out yet, and they probably don't wanna give to much away.

It would be good hype though, I bet they do a really good update promoting SMG if they do decide to make a stage.

Although, I wouldn't really like low gravity to much, it is a possiblity because they are trying to put more emphasis on arial combat , and that would definately do it, imagine a marth being able to do 4 fairs in one SH... ugh.

That would be an awesome stage to play in. Maybe that ship Bowser uses to wreck havoc (sp?) could fly around shooting cannon balls at the fighters.

The chances of a Mario Galaxy stage sort of went up with the Character appearences update. If you look you will notice every character is in their respective stage - Pit in Skyworld, Ice Climbers in The Submitt etc. All but one. Mario is shown at Smashville.

I know this proves nothing but it does suggest that Delfino Plaza is Bowser Jr or Peach's stage.

This with the fact that gravity alteration of some sort was confirmed in the Special Brawl makes me a very happy optimist. The little clues add up in the end.

I don't think running 360 would be a good way to play.
What if one character stayed on top and the other ran to the bottom of the planet?
and if you play at the bottom, your attacks and directions would be inverted. So you'd spend all your time on top.
One of the ways to kill your enemies is to throw them at the 'side walls'. but with this stage you would only be able to throw them Up.
Well it's hard to explain since there wouldn't be down or left or right in this stage.
AAACK!!!
Unless the camera keeps the stage, and you view straight as the characters move along the surface of the planet, then there won't be a problem.

I think that having the entire planet on the screen would ruin it.
Moving along the screen with new hazards coming from the sides, or from the back or from the front (as the planet rotated and spinned) is a more entertaining thought.

The characters could also be sucked, somehow, into a black hole and from there get to different areas in the universe, fighting on meteors or comets and other planets using similar camera positions.

Hyrule...OF COURSE!
I like Hourglass's idea the best!

but I definettly think there should be a SMG stage. there should be a stage for every character, then some extras ;)

That would mean a stage for Mario, Peach, Bowser, Luigi, Wario, and if they get in, Dr.Mario, Bowser jr, Geno, Daisy, Waluigi, and any other mario character. I think the more stages, the better.

Also, you can decide how much gravity there is on that one menu, didnt anyone look at the choises, jeez

I haven't visited this thread in a while, but I thought I'd come back and post considering I'm getting Mario Galaxy the day after tomorrow (living in the UK, that's when it's coming out).

The Mario Galaxy stage idea is still one of my favourite concepts. Has anybody done any sketches/shops yet?

For everyone on this thread saying it's too early to have a galaxy stage, What about melee? The new pokémon games (gold and silver) were barely a year old, and yet pichu and a few other pokémon from that genaration were in the game. Even more newer was the Luigi's Mansion Trophy, and the pikmin trohpy, not to mention Animal Crossing, which wasn't even released yet...

If we have a galaxy stage, it should be unlocked the same way as the luigi's mansion and pikmin trophies in Melee were. We'd have to have a Galaxy game save file. Metroid Prime 3 accessed the save files to give you the bumper stickers... Why can't Brawl access the save files as well?
