Last Friday at Super Smash Con, the Rivals of Aether team announced Steam Workshop support. This support will be coming "soon". Steam Workshop will allow people to add in their own custom content to Rivals of Aether, along with a new character named Guadua and being able to pick apart their April Fool's character, Sandbert. While the Rivals of Aether team have talked about the Switch version for a while on Twitter, Dan recently tweeted a picture of a Rivals of Aether banner at Super Smash Con, with the Nintendo Switch logo on it.

While there are currently no plans to make any content from the Steam Workshop official, the Rivals of Aether team have expressed interest in Workshop side events.
The plan as of now is for no Workshop characters to be legal in the main tournaments. We will likely run some Workshop side events though. Far down the road, we might add some officially to the roster if we can figure out the logistics of doing that.
