I just started playing ssbm again, playing with Sheik 95% of the time. On 1v1 matches with my friends, i can usually hold my ground and take them down, -but-, there are four of us: so we always play free for all.

We play with 5 stocks each with a 10-minute timer. Because i panic and can't take on 3 at once (Fox, Kirby, Marth; all know their characters very well). We aren't technical, except for Fox and myself, being the only two who know how to wavedash and dance.

But i like to keep it simple, because wavedashing gets me no where with guys who just swing. I get really frustrated by not being able to follow through with a buffet of finishing moves, and they begin to out hit me which is pathetic being Sheik, i know.

I was just wondering if i'm missing anything, because i just simply get out killed in these matches, sufficing only 2-3 kills each match out of 15 i can get.

My normal tactics are dash-a, d-smash, u-smash, i only use needles for edge guarding or mind games because i can't recover quick enough, u-air, and chain grab when i can. But i do all of these with caution, usually out damaging everyone without kills though, and don't fully play to my potential.

Anyone got anything else >.<, other than sitting in a corner till atleast one person is eliminated, then jumping in cautiously?

You should be using your tilts, and the obvious fair. Also, if you want to get better, stop playing free for all. It's simply to hectic to focus on your mistakes, and learning how to correct them.

FFA are fun sometimes but you can't learn much from them other than how to clear out. As a sheik your best bet is hit and run with the slap, needles and the dsmash. Actualy you only need the dsmash. Sicne they just swing away rolling ***** their face. I know these all sound like scrub tactics but you know, when in rome... If you're looking to improve your techinical skill than FFA is counter productive is some respects and helpful in others. If you focus on trying to take out people as fast as possible while staying alive it can really speed your game up however you also learn to spam rolls and smash more than you normally would in 1v1.

Wow this sounds freakishly like me! .....Well the old me.

It got the point when I was so frustrated with dealing about 500+ damage for 2 kills that I used other more powerful characters.
I always win 1v1 against them though despite them taking most of the kills.

But hope is not lost! sheik can dominate FFA games, but you need to intercept off of the level before Marth and others get their tip on your prey! So edge guard with fair and dsmash.

Keep it fast and know your combos must most of all use you balls if you want kills!

I made a thread of my own a while back that's very similar to this, only at work it would be ONE STOCK, and with my buddies it would be more like 5 or 10.

None of the people I play the game with are technical, they too just like to swing away, and they also roll like crazy, which I'm finding very predictable.

I don't find myself to be a brawler, I find I'm more of a technical player who very much enjoys 1v1, for the match as well as the opportunity to improve.
