The Guinness World Records has been the world's largest collection of world records for over 50 years. In this year's Guinness World Records Gamer Edition, not one, but two Smash Bros. players have been featured for their achievements!

Klayton dressed as his favorite Smash Bros. character, Sonic​

Klayton Schauffer from Washington, USA, holds the Guinness World Record for "Most KO’s (knockouts) on Super Smash Bros. Brawl" with 51 KOs. This record uses the ruleset of 2 minute time matches. His method of achieving this was simple - just go to Flat Zone 2 with Zero Suit Samus, go to the far right blastzone, and repeatedly throw the opponents off stage. Meanwhile, Ken Hoang, very well known as "Ken" or the "King of Smash" in the competitive community, holds the Guinness world record for "Highest-earning Super Smash Bros. Melee player". After inarguably being the best Melee player in the game's early years, Ken has amassed $36,175 in tournament winnings over his career.
Note: Although Ken holds the world record, it seems Armada actually has made the most off of Melee. Source

Great to see one of my favorite franchises ever finally be in the Guinness World Records.

 

The costumes made me laugh and cry at the same time. Not sure if that's a good thing.....

 

I would have appreciated if they tried to shoot a "IRL Ken combo". Also, the outfit should be red.

 

Bonus points for the Sanic costume!

I'm not sure if Ken's record is legit, maybe in 2013-2014 it may be but nowadays players like Armada and Zero should be earning much more than what he earn in his golden days. Also $36,175 doesn't look like a lot of money considering he was the most dominant player of his time. Then again Melee is probably the worst paid E-Sport

Actually, they're considering only Melee, not the total. Even so, Armada still has over 77k from Melee, so he would hold the record anyway. If they were considering the total from all games, then M2K would hold the record, with over 119k in total earnings.

Which is still not a lot if you consider the amount of time they spend to master the game. It's a job. This is over many years, while 80,000$ can be a man's yearly salary if they have a well enough job.

Well, Ken is on there, so Melee is represented lol.

As for ZeRo and Smash 4, I have to agree. ZeRo won the biggest tournament for a Smash title ever without dropping a game.

Congratulations Today we see it with such naturality, but it's pretty insane to think a single man won most of the tournaments during the 2003 - 2006 period.
