But they are not interesting at all. In fact almost all classic characters designs that arent the main cast are pretty awful. Id even say Amy classic design is boring too.

Fang is alright. Cowboy hat, popgun, and a evil weasel looking for treasure makes sense in context of retro cartoons and treasure hunters.
But Rouge pretty much did the treasure hunter thing better in every way.

Yeah I kinda block the werehog portions from my memories.

I replay the daytime levels on that initial save file because the daytime half is my favorite 3D Sonic game. Forces might just be my least favorite. Even lower than '06.

Vector and Charmy designs in modern games are fine and way better compared to their classic counterparts
Id wish they focused more on Vec being a detective and make charmy less annoying but hes way better than Ray in terms of design.

Honestly it could have been just about anyone outside of what was in the grinch leak and it would have been divisive. Imo that's less on the character itself and more on the community itself there.
Though honestly I would argue the while the hardcore audience would love the grinch leak picks that outside of B&K and Shadow that those picks would be divisive as well, but instead of to the hardcore forum dwellers to the larger general audience as a bunch of "literal who"s got announced.

That's another reason as to why he's the only leaker I believe.

- Already associated with more than a year of ****flinging on places like /vp/ (the starter wars this gen were especially bad)
- Yet another Pokemon (not quite the same situation as 'yet another FE rep' as the series aren't really comparable, but people are still resentful that Pokemon is guaranteed a newcomer each Smash title)
- Associated with the low expectations of the Box Theory which had been circulating for ages in the September-October period to the extent that people were sick of it
- Made even worse by the fact that his reveal immediately debunked the Grinch ruse
- Reveal was in the context of a direct that crushed many characters' hopes by revealing them as ATs

By contrast, there wasn't the same degree of expectation around Chrom or false hopes that another scenario (with five more characters to boot) was possible. It was just 'oh, another FE character', but this was in a direct that announced the Belmonts, K Rool and a ****ton more

There's a weird hatred for her modern design recently i dont understand. Id rather have the modern take than the ms pac man "Hey lets put a bow/headband on the main character and make them a girly color and call it a new character" take

Genuine question because I don't watch the anime and this has perplexed me since I first found out Incineroar was a thing.

Why is he not a fighting type.

Incineorar is a heckin' good boy, but he was not received well. He's doing better now, but being a sorta controversial pokemon, along with the fact that he was one of the poster children of box theory, not to mention being the guy who destroyed the grinch leak once and for all, kinda soured his reveal for some people.

Not me though, I was maximum hype.

I can definitely see why he was that hated for three major reasons

1. Supposedly, Stealing a Slot: With a roster with such limited newcomer spaces, people didn't even want another Pokemon taking up a slot... Pokemon already had 9 reps at that point...
2. Not even the most requested Pokemon: Most people wanted Decidueye or Lycanroc as the Gen 7 Rep, not Incineroar... When Incineroar in Sun and Moon was first leaked, the reactions were very negative, so he really wasn't a highly requested choice in the first place
3. The whole Grinch leak debacle: And then there was the Grinch leak... A lot of people (including myself), wanted it to be real. And of course, most insiders correctly dismissed it entirely, because it lacked Incineroar... Of course, this made a couple people mad, spawning the "Incineroar is leakbait" claim, claiming that Incineroar was simply leakbait. Of course, he wasn't... and when the Direct finally revealed Incineroar, people were not happy... Especially when some of the characters in the Grinch leak ended up being assist trophies... So of course, they decided to take some of the hate on Incineroar

That being said, He was much more well received than , but that's a different story for a different day

Incineroar was added because Sakurai thought a wrestler would be cool, that's it. Pokken Deluxe and the anime didn't even exist yet so it'd be impossible for them to have any bearing on the selection.

The only difference between now and Smash 4 is that GF decided to capitalize on the fact Greninja was going to be in Smash back then and market the hell out of it.

Like he's the 'Heel' pokemon so he has a very sneaky and aggressive nature, making him 'evil' or dark.

He's based of a Heel Wrestler, Wrestler's who are the villains in the story and use dirty tactics to win. Lying, cheating, breaking the rules, anything to get the belt.

He's not just a fighter, he's a dark fighter.

Fighting type is 'Hero' type in Japan, and Dark type is 'Evil' (or 'villain') type. Incineroar is a heel wrestler, so he's an 'evil' type as far as his wrestling persona goes.

Honestly, based on last year, a Wednesday announcement was always more likely than one on Tuesday. The lack of an announcement today doesn't mean anything by itself. That being said, the lack of any teases from big insiders is concerning

That, and I wouldn't be surprised if he also got in, thanks to Sakurai's love of cats
