Splatoon 3 "Grand Festival" + new amiibo announced

splat3.jpg

Earlier today, Nintendo announced the “Grand Festival” Splatfest to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of Splatoon 3. A remix of Calamari Inkantation played all throughout the trailer.

The official description of the video claims this is the biggest Splatfest in history. The festival's theme is Past vs. Present vs. Future. Callie and Marie represent the Past, Pearl and Marina represent the Present, and Deep Cut represents the Future. The festival will run from September 12th, 2024 to September 15th, 2024.

In addition, new amiibo of the Squid Sisters and Off the Hook were announced. Callie and Marie use the Alterna designs, while Pearl and Marina use their Side Order designs. These amiibo allow the player to take pictures with them and get unique gear. They will be releasing on September 5th, 2024.

Author’s Note: I know it wasn’t explicitly stated, but this just screams “last Splatfest of Splatoon 3” to me. What are your opinions on this and the new amiibo? As always, let us know in the comments below!

There's always going to be a market for official physical merchandise I think, especially for the IPs as well beloved as Nintendo's. I'd probably get a lot more Amiibo myself if I was richer and could throw extra money at stuff like that, but I just prefer spending it on games instead.

Surprised amiibos are still going despite not being as popular anymore
Honestly something cool could be if Nintendo leaned deeper into the collectible angle and made more amiibos for older games too. Say, an amiibo set for Ocarina of Time would be awesome. Throw in the two links, Zelda, Ganondorf, Sheik, and a couple of other characters and I'd be satisfied.
