"Who exactly is notable with this character"?
With so many characters in Smash 4, some tend to be less represented and not really have as much information, results and data for players to look at. This honestly can turn many players off; they may struggle to improve and want guidance, but having a lack of a source to look at can turn a player away from a character. Greninja i in a bit of an interesting situation; despite early balance changes, the character is definitely present in the metagame, but sometimes absent at majors. However, there are no doubt players who are very skilled or knowledgeable when it comes to the frog, and that's where this project comes in.
This is the Notable Greninja Project, which is designed to act as a continuously updating resource to allow players to view an archive of high level Greninja information.
Here's a few quick questions that may answer your concerns or questions about this project:
What exactly is the purpose of this project?
- The main focus of this project is to utilize resources to find data, matches, strategies and information about notable Greninja players. This information can be used to allow for players to study and learn from their matches and get insight on how to improve their play. In addition, this also acts as a resource to showcase the talented players who dedicate themselves to this character.
- There are a few ways that this may be determined. They include, but are not limited to: being on a PR list, placing high at majors or regionals, having a strong track record in a region, being a good resource, content creators, leading community members, etc. If sufficient data is found and we determine that they are "notable", they will be added.
- The main bulk of the rankings will be in the second and third posts.
- Potentially. As time goes by and more results are found, this may occur; however, specific rankings (meaning ranking players on a numbered list rather than on individual tiers) are not on the drawing board.
- Found a player who you think is notable? Did you see video footage of a nice Greninja? Have more footage for an existing entry? Want to give an explanation for a potential candidate and why they belong on the list? Feel free to voice your opinion in the thread.
- It'll likely update on an irregular basis. An update notice will likely be posted for new additions, however.
- If you have information, I strongly recommend it. For this to be successful and have good updates, the assistance of the community is required, and is appreciated.
- If there's a specific piece of information you know I am missing, such as a Smashboards account or Social Media account, please contact me so I can add it in.
- Naturally, things fall through the cracks on occasion. We can't always have info or knowledge of every last major Greninja out there; however, if you do find a player who you think is legitimately notable, bring it up.
