This analogy fits entirely too well with the 4chan leaker's characters. Gamagouri as Ridley, Dixie as Nonon, Mewtwo as inumuta, and chorus kid as sanagemaya.

One of the challenges is "Unlocking every character", yes. The All-Star lock should also disappear when every character is unlocked.

3DS cards go up to 8GB, so yes, there is plenty of room for DLC and patches.
