I've already seen the take of "At the Wii U was ambitious"
The WiiU was absolutely ambitious. It was capable of FaceTime/Video chat, Netflix, stereoscopic 3d (think 3ds), was a tv remote that can control Cable Box/Satellite Box….etc, a 2nd screen for TV/movie/sports info and much more. The Switch literally can’t do ANY of these things.

I could see Nintendo eventually going radio silent on Switch 2 news some time between now and the Direct. Switch 1 is still on the market, after all.

I could also be wrong.

At this point, I'm guessing that Legends Z-A is going to be the last "big" first party game released for the Switch, whether or not it also ends up getting a Switch 2 release.

The Wii U's last "big" first party game (and last first party game at all IIRC) was Breath of the Wild, which also got a Switch release. I wonder if history's going to repeat with Z-A for the Switch and Switch 2, or whatever else Nintendo puts out for the Switch at this point now that we know for a fact that the Switch has actually been officially revealed.

Don’t give the Ultimate Deluxe speculators ammo :073:
Well, assuming this new Mario Kart is Mario Kart 9, we've already seen that Nintendo's more than willing to let 8 Deluxe and 9 co-exist on the same platform, it's just, I feel like it's easier to justify that with Mario Kart than Smash.

Whatever new Smash game comes will of course sell but, Ultimate's always going to be there with 90~ characters and 100+ stages, kinda hard shoes to fill.

I just want a cool story mode where the characters actually get to interact with each other like a proper crossover :drsad:
I do not think it would happen. Don't get me wrong, it would be very cool, but Union voice actors from third party companies aside, I am not sure how those who cannot, or do not speak, or speak in a different way from that of a human language, would actually add well to to conversations or otherwise interactions with Smash Bros. characters, if Smash Bros. is what you are talking about.

Subspace did it just fine.

That is indeed a Switch, but TWO.

No sir I'm not ready for the Smash wars.... and it's gonna be hella awkward for this proposed new Smash since Ultimate can already natively run on the Switch 2.
We have seen this before with brawl and smash 64 being playable on WiiU. It did nothing to the massive sales of smash 4.

Nintendo has never released anything like that with relation to smash. Every new console, starting with N64, gets a new smash.

World of Light was a pretty decent Adventure Mode, I just needed more in the way of character interaction. Even if they were just PNGs and dialogue boxes, some solid dynamics between the roster would've been great,
You know, this might be a bit biased of me considering who I talk about, but I would like to see Sonic interact with Captain Falcon and Falco.

Just because the shot is a blank don’t mean I want them to have ammo anyway! :drflip:

Dynasty Warriors Origins (PS5) in 8 hours. Reviews are super good. I’ve been craving a 1v1000 since Hyrule Warriors (2020).

Knowing Nintendo, they don’t have it planned even if we give them the idea. Fan feedback is of the lowest priority for Nintendo. We already tried this with a Melee remaster on Wii and WiiU and Switch. Nintendo (or was it Sakurai?) straight up said no.

I feel like when it comes to a future Smash, Ultimate's my dropping off point IRT the speculation and community.

I've been deep in the speculation scene since Brawl, and after Ultimate, I think I'm.... tired? Ultimate started out fun, but as time went on, the speculation became less and less fun, not at all helped by the clout chasing "leaks".

That, and a good chunk of the fanbase I used to like is just, gone. RelaxAlax got called out, Zer0's a creep, GameXplain is a shell of what it once was, and god bless Etika's soul may he rest in piece.

Not to criticize you in any way, for I am not doing so, but I am surprised you have not fully rested from this.

well, even then, I don't blame you. I am ready for more, but things are going to be crazy with Smash Bros. speculation coming back, especially with things like a possible Grinch leak 2.0 and Everyone is Here not possibly coming back.

Well you see those were bad games :nifty:

Joking aside, yeah a new Smash will sell, it's got Super Smash Bros in its name, it's going to sell no question. The question will be what'll get people to swap over other than a new name. New characters are great, but Ultimate's model isn't sustainable, Sakurai said as much, so the next game's gonna get cuts, probably a substantial amount of them.

Every Smash game up to this point has only gone up in roster size, this'll probably be the first one that goes down.

Every smash game has sold more than the last. People will have no problem switching over to Switch 2 and Smash 6 even if the roster isn’t as big as smash 5. NEW characters is what gets people on board. It’s a tale as old as time.

Again, I don't doubt that, but we've seen this community split in the past between Melee and Brawl, and telling someone "Sorry bud, you get one game of Ridley/K.Rool/Banjo after wanting them for 20+ years? Maybe they'll be DLC."

Cuts are gonna play a huge role in Smash 6, and depending on who gets cut it's gonna be a bloodbath.... Which I'm all for. :nifty:

One does not truly recover from Ultimate speculation.

Hell, I was a casual speculator who rarely stopped by the discussion threads and even I quickly grew sick of how ****ing toxic it was.
I know that feeling. While I was not really like the others, I was taking part of Geno (from Super Mario RPG) speculation back in the days of Ultimate's DLC era. I still wish the other Geno fans were more mature and more open to the possibility that Geno could not get in, like I did. And Geno did not get in. I knew something was wrong with his chances. When Sephiroth was announced instead, I stayed the heck out of that Geno thread, period!

I'd like to blame it all on the Grinch leak, but speculation's always been like this, it's just the end of Smash 4 with Gematsu leak/ESRB Leak/the poll and the entirety of Ultimate's cycle brought out the worst in the fanbase.

And it's not like people weren't trying to help. There was a large amount of people parroting to hype responsibly, but people always **** on them because "Let people be happy/have fun."

And then the Box
And the Grinch

And it's just, the Grinch felt like a cumulation of what had been building up for a decade, and then when it was killed by Kencineroar and a Plant, it felt like this fanbase kinda, got the wind knocked out of its sails. It didn't end by any means, there was still an ungodly amount of rumors and leaks up until Sora's launch, but... yeah I'm kinda burnt out on that side of the fanbase ngl.

I had a lot of fun during the lead up to Ultimate, actually. That **** was crazy.

During the whole dlc period though, while I did enjoy myself at points, and obviously the game was still great, I quickly started to get burned out on the whole Smash speculation thing.

I had fun during Smash Bros. Ultimate's speculation era. In fact, I am ready for more.

Unrelated to the above, but I would like to continue to say something about those Geno fans if that is okay.

I did try to tell them that Geno might not make it into Ultimate as a playable character, and to keep their expectations in check, but they would not listen and were offended when I said to keep expectations in check. I do wonder why they reacted like that, but that "list of evidence", among other things they had that they thought would get Geno in, I knew something was wrong with all that and that it would not be enough.

I mean, there were plenty there on the Geno thread saying Cacomallow was real, and honestly; I would not be surprised if they still believed that for some reason.

Regardless of how much people will fight over potential Smash newcomers, one thing remains clear.

My most wanted characters aren't getting in :dkmelee:
Then why do you come here, on a Smash Bros. forum if you know that?

The above thing I just said is meant to be a joke, so please don't hurt me!

But seriously, even without knowing which characters you speak of, I can understand that. Still, it always helps to have some hope for your wanted characters and never give up on them.
