I have never played a Ninja Gaiden game but I hear it’s very hard. What makes it hard?

Shroob mentioned the NES stuff but as for the my 3 hours with Sigma 1, enemies get quite aggressive and hurt a lot, not to mention there's sometimes a large amount of them and they also quickly block your stuff so you have to outplay them instead of swing at them. Itagaki, the director, said that if playtesters thought the game was too hard, he'd make it harder

I'm personally not interested in it due to my comedic distaste for the french (it's not xenophobia if it's your own blood right) and the Paper Mario Action Command gameplay style but it cannot be denied how amazing it looks and how unlike so many other RPGs made by western devs who grew up playing these games, they don't seem to have contempt for their inspirations like say, Sea of Stars

I'm personally not interested in it due to my comedic distaste for the french (it's not xenophobia if it's your own blood right) and the Paper Mario Action Command gameplay style but it cannot be denied how amazing it looks and how unlike so many other RPGs made by western devs who grew up playing these games, they don't seem to have contempt for their inspirations like say, Sea of Stars

Thank God I'm not French as far as I know(strictly joking), I'm Black/Puerto Rican. I'm not sure I'm super into it myself, but I am impressed with it's style. I think the combat reminded me more of Legend of Dragoon but I guess Paper Mario is a more apt comparison. Can't speak on Sea of Stars as I have not played it, but there was quite a time in western game journalism, not just American that had such seething for anything Japanese it's insane. I do find it funny they tried to say that the Balloon guy in the party was "cute". I wouldn't describe a creature that looks like an Olde God or Golem like that, but go off I guess. And more variety in the style of games coming from first party studios is good.

That's how you know Budokai 3 was peak when even the racists at X-Play gassed that game up. But so many of their other Japanese reviews are crazy looking back.

I hope the studios that are directly involved with MS don't get ****ed over like the Hi-Fi Rush guys at Tango did. Or the guys who were forced to make a Multiplayer game. We already have Sony making that mistake 12 times over because Jim Ryan is a blight on the industry.

I'm assuming you must stab the Evil tree lady who determines who dies with a Baguette. Also for some reason all of the English voice acting has vaguely British accents and not French accented English.

Tbf, I kinda get it. Like, it's been a looooooooooooooong time since Tooie, so the game's got big shoes to fill. Tooie's already a bit divisive as is, though not to DK64's level, so I feel like a lot of the fanbase would be hoping for something closer to 1.

That and well... A Certain Set of Banjo Fans™ have a bad reputation for a reason

But yeah it's not gonna live up to what people think their version of Banjo should be. People are already extremely nitpicky about every single game release under the sun, you see the most absurd switch ups because of some truly silly, miniscule stuff that people run with. Imagine that with Banjo fans and the nearly 30 years since the one game they can agree they actually like came out.

It'd be 9/11 for 40+ year olds that tricked people into thinking the N64 wasn't a bad console

Now obviously, I'd totally be down for a new Banjo game, but also, I'd fully expect there to be legions of Youtube videos with grown men with open mouths in the thumbnails telling you the viewer why this game is awful doodoo pop stain.


If it were up to me, I'd first of all pull a Crash and Spyro and make a remake of the original 2 games, hell maybe even toss the GBA game in there, and see how fans react to it.

It's been so long from the Last game that expectations would be astronomically high. Compared to like Mega Man 11, where most people seemed to like it enough outside of the Soundtrack being seen as mostly meh. Or Sonic Superstars which sorta came and went for most people(the new character in it didn't get a ton of new art, compared to Sage or Shadow's popularity being more pronounced again, y'know?

Probably the closest comparison would be Kingdom Hearts 3. A game that sold well and has fans, but most people seem to prefer KH2 in a lot of areas.

On top of this Internet Culture switches up on stuff a lot. Most popular games get a lot of divisive takes on them anyway. Smash, Zelda, Mario, Spider-Man, God of War, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, whatever.

People were being weird about Astrobot too. I get that Team Asobi was more or less the husk of Sony Japan. But we didn't need full on "race science" discourse on it I think. Having looked at the game, the only gripe I would have is that most of the character design outside of Astro himself I guess, is really bland. There's no identity itself, since the game relies on Cameos I guess. Look at most other platformers and that's not really the case.

Now obviously, I'd totally be down for a new Banjo game, but also, I'd fully expect there to be legions of Youtube videos with grown men with open mouths in the thumbnails telling you the viewer why this game is awful doodoo pop stain.

The new Banjo game is WOKE because he didn't call any and all play Non-White players Jungle Apes when I pressed the start button. Truly the West has fallen.

I do feel like testing the waters, or getting a new audience familiar with Banjo could work with remakes of 1 and 2. Hell, drag it out and you could make each it's own title, if you wanted to. The two GBA titles could be neat I guess.

Considering how Deadlock started development as a Half-life spinoff, I think we are a few years away from learning about a cancelled Valve Metaverse.

Metroid Prime 4 will also have the challenge of being at LEAST as good as Dread/Prime 1 since that was announced at the start of the Switch 1, only to re-start development half-way through said gen. Half-Life 3 I would say has bigger shoes to fill than Sonic Adventure 3, Sonic had other popular titles like Frontiers and Colors/Unleashed depending on the day of the week it is.
