Sorry if this is a broken record but what do you think the odds of actually seeing donkey Kong outside of Mario kart at the direct are.
I feel like most people are expecting 3D Mario to be a big sell for people. Dunno how many platformers they'd show off at once.

I feel like Mario they might have as the big year 2 game, with Kart being the Year 1 and DK could be there. Though even THAT depends if Nintendo could trust someone else other than Retro to do that, much like Prime 4 re-starting with Retro at the helm.

I mean. The switch’s launch had Zelda and Mario as big year one games with the Mario kart 8 port around the same time. Arms and Splatoon 2 were also year 1.

My point is they have a couple spots to fill for year 1 stuff. Prime 4 and Z-A could be the equivalent of BotW and 8 Deluxe. Last gen games that will probably get some sort of upgrade on the switch 2 via performance patches or some sort of “Switch 2 Edition”. Mario Kart and something else would then be one of the original games for launch year. With three other potential originals for the launch year. Or at least that’s my thought process. Maybe the robust backwards compatibility will mean they won’t feel the need to make too many year 1 games.

For investors, I feel like they will SHOW a lot of new games. It's just that I don't think a ton of them will be year 1. Then again, maybe they've had these in the back burner longer than I'm thinking of. But I'm betting at least a few Switch 1 games will have Switch 2 releases with better visuals/performace. Prime 4 and ZA likely being those titles. Zelda and Mario have the benefit of being different series, not that Mario Kart is the same genre, but I can see a little bit of cannbalized sales if they too close together, but maybe I'm trippin' on that. If I had to bet on another series or two getting titles, regardless of DK, which mentioned earlier, I think Splatoon and Kirby would make the most sense. Only way I see Zelda happening is if the Wii-U HD games, or the 3DS games get upgraded again and put on Switch 2, I think that would require less work than a full title. But it's not like it'd be a snap either.

Chances are we're getting 1 or 2 brand new games, likely more casual, since the "hardcore" stuff can just be the established series'.

"Dust?" As in "Dust: An Elysian Tail"?
That's a fantastic game.
Yup, that's the one!

I'm aware that the game's development and a few elements from the story were cut short, but for what it's worth I still think the game's story was pretty strong. And the gameplay's just a blast.

I also love the main trio. They play off of each other very well and their VAs were all perfectly cast.

Ok, so this may be a me thkng, but has anyone else noticed that search results on Google and especially Youtube have gotten noticeably worse?

Lately, I've been getting a crap ton of results that are not related to anything I type up, and 90% of them are either Trump related or AI slop.
It's been getting gradually worse for a while now, but AI slop has definitely sped things up.

I'm going back to getting most of my knowledge from books.

You just know that someday someone will make a parody of Batman where he’s basically Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos in how he acts and as like… a critique on the idea of a billionaire actually wanting to help people (as much of a fiction as a man being able to fly) and then it’s gonna get popular, there’s gonna be like 12 of them, there’s gonna be a few Elseworlds stories where they do it with the actual Batman and then it’s just gonna be baked into our culture to the point it’s what people expect from the real thing.

It will basically be “Evil/Dictator Superman” all over again.

I want to believe DC has enough evil billionaire characters that they don't need another...

But let's be honest, everything sells better with Batman's name on it so they'll inevitably try every idea under the sun and apply it to him.

I usually hate ketchup...but this time I finally love the condiment for doing the right thing
This sounds like a one-liner from an action movie.

It’s nice the film is coming out. But please WB. Do not sell the entire franchise to some indie studio with no budget.
I don't think an indie studio with no budget can afford Looney Tunes in the first place.

Evil Superman was cool until it was overused. Omni-Man is still the best example of the "Evil Superman" trope IMO and that's because the comics came out in 2003, so it was one of the first ones, and because Omni-Man/Nolan is a really well written supervillain right from the get-go with his lingering feelings for humanity while still wanting to believe in working for the Viltrum Empire.

Honestly part of what makes Omni-Man work that a lot of people don't seem to realize is that Mark is a good natured hero, he's Superman's ideals played more straight

my office, probably
What makes Omni-Man work to me is that he's a pastiche of Superman who's used to subvert audience expectations. See, Omni-Man really predates the modern wave of evil Supermen as we know them today, the fact that Invincible's adaptation came out in the midst of that is a coincidence.

Back in 2003 this trope wasn't nearly as common, and as a result the characters written without the underlying disdain for Superman that usually goes hand in hand with it. Nolan may be a bad person but it doesn't feel like they're just saying "oh the overpowered alien could kill us all and actually wants to". The reveal of his true nature primarily works because of how it impacts Mark, as the pedestal that was his inspirational father is shattered and he has to grapple with that fact, and it also impacts how he's perceived by other people. Omni-Man going on a rampage and killing a bunch of civilians makes people in-universe fear the "Superman archetype", and it forces Mark to be a better hero and earn their trust back.

There's a lot more that makes Omni-Man a fascinating case of this trope and an amazing character in general but I feel underqualified to do a full analysis

It's amazing how so many April Fools have passed and corporations still think "Dating Sim" and "Visual Novel" are still funny jokes and not annoyingly played out.
Never forget when Nekopara made a cat boy game joke on april fools and then became a real game
Here's an idea for an April Fool's joke: new Ace Attorney visual novel.

Capcom that's a freebie, hop on that.
If that means I can get rizzed up by Herlock Sholmes and Inspecter Gregson, Im in

Day 30: Ring Fit Adventure

1jsrcf2zeno61.jpg

This one is a bit more personal than most of the writeups but I got this game for my mother as she loved going to the gym and working out, so I thought it might be good for her to have to pass the time, especially during COVID, but unfortunately her illness constantly prevented her from doing this, and eventually, she would pass away, with tomorrow marking 3 years since. I still had the game even after all that time but recently I decided I should do some form of self improvement, and why pay to go to the gym when I still had a copy of this? Turns out, it does genuinely make for a good workout, I try to do a daily workout whenever possible despite my busy schedule and my current standard is a minimum of 250kcal burned per session, seeing as I beat all 69 worlds. I do cheat a bit on more difficult exercises the game throws at me like if it wants me to plank but I also make some harder by putting in extra movement. The soundtrack is alright I suppose but I made my own playlist and listen to it, having asked friends, lovers and even this thread for songs to add to it (btw I never say no to more song recs) and because of that, I actually have a good time doing this. I've already gotten over 100 ingame hours of exercise in, but hey, what's another 100 more? I'm not gonna recommend this wholeheartedly cause well, it's not really a game, just 80 euros for an exercising tool, but hey, you could do a lot worse
