Nairo and Cosmos just lost to MKLeo and Serge, Leo's cousin, in doubles.

Leo and Serge were in Loser's, but they reset the bracket 3-0 and ended up winning Grands 3-1.
And Serge mostly used throughout the sets. Leo used .

Pretty good sets overall.

I gotta admit... I was doubting Serge throughout most of the match, but he actually has a pretty great Zard.

The man was styling on Nairo of all people. And as a Smash 4 Zard secondary, I enjoyed that so much.

Short answer: Yes

Seriously, Leo is nothing short of a prodigy. He won his first tournament when he was 8, way back in Brawl. And then you have Javi and Serge (who are brothers, but also Leo's cousins) as well, which really shows how the talent runs in this family.

I gotta admit... I was doubting Serge throughout most of the match, but he actually has a pretty great Zard.

I tell you, I haven't seen this guy anywhere in at least a year. Nice to see he stuck with Charizard after Smash 4. Not sure if he ever went to the US, but he definitely made a name for himself again. Mexico is easily one of strongest regions out thete, if not the strongest.

indeed it is so, this character is from banjo-kazooie for the nintendo 64, and is in fact the villain from banjo-kazooie's original iteration for the SNES titled project dream, re-purposed into a cameo role for the purposes of light entertainment and laughter

Long answer is that it's a harmless pirate NPC cameo. Originally, that was the villain for the beta build of Banjo Kazooie called Project Dream. Originally, you didn't even play as Banjo but as some kid and he was being hunted down by Captain Blackeye.

Ah so he plays Lucario as well...

I don't see a lot of high-level Lucario gameplay outside of Tsu.

I'll make sure to keep an eye out for him during Singles then.
