I'm posting this here because these boards have a wall cling to work with, and the only information I have to work with is this vague thread--

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=142700

I have a few questions that I'd like answered...

How long can you stay wall clinging before you start falling? How much does the time change for each subsequent wall cling?

It seems that you can't wall cling on certain parts of most walls, so...What spots on the walls on each competitive stage allow for a wall cling?

Why does my mid-air jump return sometimes when I wall cling on Shadow Moses? Could this be abused on other stages?

It appears that you can't normally wall cling -> wall cling jump -> wall cling, but you can wall cling again after you use an aerial. Is it only after certain animations that allow you to wall cling again?

It seems like it would be a viable tactic on certain stages, like Yoshi's Island, Pictochat, and Castle Siege. I'd like for the data to be gathered so we can make potential strategies out of it.

i think the answer to your last question is that squirtle can wall cling (and wall cling jump) but not wall jump

you can cling right onto the spot where the ledge is on some stages (like, half of squirtle will be above stage level holding onto nothing). i haven't experimented with that though.

I dunno which stages there are in your region tho lol

Why does my mid-air jump return sometimes when I wall cling on Shadow Moses? Could this be abused on other stages? sometimes? describe situation

So far, experimentation has brought me this--

The first wall cling lasts three seconds, the second lasts three seconds, the third lasts one-and-a-half seconds, and the fourth is one second.

There are two spots on each side of Yoshi's Island that you can wall cling onto; basically, one is somewhat below the ledge, and the other one is about two Squirtle lengths below the first one.

I figured out that you can do this--

From the ledge, drop down, move towards the stage, and hold onto the first spot for almost three seconds...
Wall cling jump and U-Air to protect yourself/prevent yourself from grabbing the ledge...
Move toward the stage and hold onto the second wall cling spot for almost three seconds...
Wall cling jump and use your mid-air jump (and U-Air if the mid-air jump puts you near the ledge to prevent the ledgegrab)...
Wall cling the first spot for a little more than a second, U-Air, drop down, grab the second spot for half a second...
Wall cling jump and Up-B to the ledge.

The fourth wall cling can be omitted against a character than can edgeguard Squirtle well, but even without the extra second or two gained from that, it's about eleven seconds taken from the clock. You're not abusing invincibility, and you can't do it forever, so it seems like a perfectly legitimate tactic ("I'm just trying to recover safely!"). Since the hanging lip doesn't really allow for stagespiking, if someone gets ambitious, you shouldn't die from doing this. I bet this has potential.

Squirtle has no walljump
Wall cling jump and wall jump are two different things.

Mario can wall jump. Anyone with a wall cling can press away from the stage while in a wall cling to wall cling jump.

After more testing, it appears that we can only abuse this on Yoshi's Island and the first portion of Castle Siege (since it works the same way). Squirtle has the worst wall cling for this because the ability to wall cling again runs on a timer, and Squirtle's jump is much shorter than Diddy, Lucario, and Sheik's, meaning that you lose height before you can wall cling again.

Still, this could be a decent camping tactic on those two stages.

If you wall cling, then wall cling jump (there should be a better name for that) and hold the stick towards the wall will you cling again? Does jumping change the outcome?

A lot of great info here good stuff Luis I deff think this has alot of potential on yoshi's, on Castle seige tho it's only good for 1/3 of the stage so maybe if you like CS as a counter pick.

This is deffinitly a camping tactic mainly for yoshi's
