I remember him using a slash in Melee when he used his Neutral Special.Definitely Dancing Blade. Note the slash motion. Marth wields a Falchion, which is a sword used primarily for stabbing. So if it was going to be shield breaker, and he uses a stabbing sword, it definitely wouldn't be a slash attack.
He totes def did.I remember him using a slash in Melee when he used his Neutral Special.
Yeah. It works better. Everyone says Melee's was better for some reason, so why not give whatever is better in the Melee version to the stabbing one?Ah. Well, the more you know.
For real though. Stabbing works better.

Why not just forward smash instead? It was better because you could edgeguard with it cause of it´s overhead-hitbox.
It is very clearly Dancing Blade. Why are you just starting to think it is not Shield Breaker.I changed the title and main post, since I am starting to think it is not Shield Breaker.
It's not only for edgeguarding, since you can use it in the air, unlike fsmash. If you try to Ken Combo but the dair of even DS isn't spaced right you can use it. I see that a lot.Melee Charged B is less likely to stale, as nobody uses it basically outside of edgeguarding. Also, you can wait for the opponent coming in while charging, and Neutral B is I think slightly stronger when not tipper'd. It's mostly the first reason though. Forward Smash shouldn't be staled.
Where do you see that? I've only seen Dolphin Slash be used in place of the dair. It's not only for edgeguarding, since you can use it in the air, unlike fsmash. If you try to Ken Combo but the dair of even DS isn't spaced right you can use it. I see that a lot.
Aren't you committing to shield breaker when you charge it too? Wouldn't that mean that neither shield breaker or fsmash should be used to edge guard especially shield breaker since it must be charged while fsmash can come out without being charged?Considering how ledge mechanics work in Brawl (Auto snapping), using a laggy move and Fsmashing the edge isn't the best option, and you definitely don't want to charge it. Because when you commit to a move that means your opponent can counter react which means they get to go on stage for free. And in both games Having the opponent on the ledge and forcing them to come back on stage is really favorable for Marth because of his spacing game. The reason it was so good in Melee is that you had to recover high some times and if your opponent chose that option Marth could cover it along with a number of other approaches.
You don't charge it unless they commit, and it's a sure fire move against some characters like Falcon, where his recovery is terrible and predictable and the angle at how he get's on stage/ledge makes the move perfect against him. Also the move hit's at an angle that makes it harder to recover from, even when properly DI'd. And remember in Melee, unless sweet spotted you will over shoot the ledge and get hit by attacks before grabbing onto the ledge.Aren't you committing to shield breaker when you charge it too? What keeps fsmash from covering those same options? You don't have to charge it just like you don't have to charge SB and doesn't it have a similar angle? You don't charge it unless they commit, and it's a sure fire move against some characters like Falcon, where his recovery is terrible and predictable and the angle at how he get's on stage/ledge makes the move perfect against him. It's also comes out fast enough to catch any recovery that's not phantasm. And even then, you can react/read it and do the appropriate punish. It's not a all in one best move to edgegaurd with by any means, but it is a great move that helps cover a lot of options.

Nah thats definitely his Final Smash.View attachment 4690

The red area is incorrect.Melee was better overall, it had more range, worked as an effective edgegaurd tool, and covered more area, instead a straight hitbox
The name of his sword is Falchion it, however, it not a falchion. This is stupid, but true.Definitely Dancing Blade. Note the slash motion. Falchions are also rounded rapier like weapons and the Falchion Marth uses is not intended for solely stabbing either, it is just a normal long sword and it is used for both slashing an stabbing. It is only rapiers that are stabbing only. The name of his sword is Falchion it, however, it not a falchion. This is stupid, but true.
