When is the wavedash meant to be used as Sheik?

I posted my video earlier and I was told to wave dash. I can, but I never find it useful, only as Marth and Luigi. When do I use it as Sheik?

always always always wavedash when playing sheik approch your enemy and wavedash back and wait for chance to strike especially against space animals. wavedash back and forth for mindgames and also learn about dasah dancing for mind games and tech chasing . advance techs plus sheik += ownage

Most useful thing i can think of is wavedashing out shield, which i personally wish i could get into the habit of. Especially against marth.

I think he was referring to tech chasing. That's for fast fallers you can't chain throw (space animals, Falcon). Down throw, wait for them to tech, chase after them to grab and repeat as much as possible.

I don't find wavedashing to be the best method of approach; rather I use it often to position myself properly for airiels (spacing) and to avoid laggy attacks and then punish (also spacing). Just try working it in gradually and you'll start to see how to use it best for yourself.

Yeah, I was watching some sheik videos and I learned to use that. Can you expand on 'teching'?

teching is when you get hit and push L or R before you hit the ground and instead of just droping there you pop ypurself up roll and recover faster. so whent fighting fast fallers you wait for the tech react and grap them again and so on and so forth

ya thanks it was meant for fast fallers

If so, then I guess I tech a lot. I saw some videos of Captain Jack, while edgeguarding he does his B+Up and sometimes damages the opponent, curious how he does that. When I do it, I go up then come down and grab the ledge again. Can someone also explain 'shino edge hogging'?

my favorite uses include:

*wavedashing in place after my enemy has failed to tech a downthrow and i didn't read it quickly enough to downsmash. i picked this up from Drephen. basically the sound of the wavedash makes your opponent stand up, attack up, or roll, thinking you've moved, when really, you're still waiting, but have forced him or her to move.

*wavelanding everywhere anytime. sheik's waveland is sexy, but more important, can actually be useful from platform to aerial.

*edgeguarding- if your opponent has made it back to the ledge, and does a get up attack or ledgehop attack, WD back to downsmash.

*WD back to downsmash or WD back to grab is sometimes easier than turning around and doing it

*and last but not least, WD to jab. it's so quick, and in advanced play, sheik's jab creates a lot of opportunities (JC grab, downsmash, even a forward air on floaties like jiggs/peach above 75% or so)

hope this helped. ciao ciao.

Agree with Hazygoose, although I'm a aerialist myself, so I don't need wavedashing all that much. It only seems to help me on a rare chance every once in awhile. I usually just use wavelanding and air dodging to sccomplish everything I do.

vs fox:

wd back into ftilt >> their approach
wd back into dsmash > their approach

if fox takes the wrong angles -- remember his only aerial approach is short hop nair shine run away -- he gets ***** by these, but ftilt more than dsmash as it's harder to punish. fox can only punish it if he doesn't jump and is just dash dancing to fake you out.

vs marth: fsmashed, wd out of shield into grab into ****.

wave land onto stage when off the ledge, easiest way to get back on IME

too many more to name, wave dash ***** though just to keep your spacing. i.e. when tech chasing run, then wd in place out of their range, let them do whatever get up and then go in for the ****.
