Hello there!

With the Smash scene growing and many more new players still to come, I though I would make a little guide highlighting each characters strengths and specialties, to help anyone take their first step into competitive Smash, or for anyone contemplating picking up another to their personal roster!

The main dilemma I have is I don't main EVERYONE in P:M, nor am I a self-proclaimed Smash genius. So, I thought I'd ask you guys, the experts to your respective mains! If you could help me out by filling out a few lines of info for me, I'll be collecting the data and responses during the week and compiling them. Once it's all collected, I'll release the guide (somewhere on the boards, not sure yet...). So if you could take a few minutes to help, I would really appreciate it!

Pros: Strengths and advantages of this character!

Cons: Weaknesses and disadvantages!

Character Specifics to Learn: Techniques exclusive to only this character (example: Squirtle's shell abilities)

Similar To: Characters that play similar to this one or have a similar strategy.

Secondaries that Compliment: A secondary character that covers certain weaknesses the main has.

(Optional) Best video example of this character in action.

Cheers!

(Sorry if you see this thread posted in multiple character forums, I find the best way to gather info is to ask directly!)

Well I'm no Ivysaur expert, but...
Pro: Excellent range, amazing range back air that sends at an almost purely horizontal aerial, is the only character that can heal herself independently, is short, has a tether recovery, Razor Leaf is annoying to SDI, Nair eats projectiles

Cons: Legitimately no crouch, Razor Leaf can only be used once every time a leaf is out, floaty

Character Specifics: Haven't done enough to learn about this one, sorry

Similar to: Kind of reminds me of Lucas, but not enough haha. Also kind of reminds me of Zero Suit Samus who also had a lot of range, a tether recovery, and an ability to stun

Secondaries: Well....

No good secondaries? No wrong answers! Just gonna gather up all the responses and get a general idea and use that.

I'd say Sheik and Dedede are both good secondaries to go along with Ivysaur. I chose Dedede, myself, and it has worked out well.

Pros: one of the best edgeguarders in the game, long recovery, very disjointed hitboxes, high kill power, good weight/falling speed to break combos
and shoots lazers and stuff. Pretty hype.

Cons: bad out of shield options, weak to crouch cancelling, weak to superior movement, weak to superior projectile spam, can't recover high, very weak to chain grabs, and her bad matchups are all among the most popular characters in PM so you're more likely to run into them.

Character Specifics to Learn: tether recoveries, gatling combo, how to follow up multihit aerials properly, momentum-changing aerials

Similar To: Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Kirby

Secondaries that Compliment : Ivysaur's bad matchups are the Melee top tiers (Fox, Falco, Marth, CF, Sheik) plus Link and Kirby. Anyone who beats at least three of those characters should be a good enough secondary.

I just wanted to pop in and say I love this idea, I started playing in march and cycled from marth to samus to roy and finally landed on Ivysaur and I couldn't be happier with how she plays. I think in your final product its important to express that one should not pick a fighter just because they see other people win with them. Try them all out and figure out the one that best expresses you. After all this is about your enjoyment.
