Exactly what I was going to say. This is how you can get a majority of your damage on Olimar. Just latch a few and wait for the opportunity to strike. Also, try what BlackWaltzX said with aPikmin latched. Gives some significant extra damage from the latched one. EDIT: d-throw >> up-B...

Doesn't give him a good wavebounce, he loses the c-stick for aerials, ect... Overall, a bad idea.

Knew I forgot to say something. There were plenty of opportunities where Mario was approaching that you had time to throw a Pikmin or two. Also there where a few times when you knocked him into the air and then just jumped away from him. Throw some Pikmin on him then after he shakes it punish...

Your D-smash too. You just need to slow it down a little from what I saw. Every time you moved in for a D-smash or grab he spot dodged. If you notice this happening a lot, just wait a second longer to try and grab than you normally do. You will probably catch him off guard doing this as...

Jiggs or Kirby work really well for level 5 since they can get around easier then most on that target test.

This is the truth. Know the basics. Knowing the basics will make you able to play better with other characters. You obviously will not be able to play everyone to their full potential by just shielding and dodging, but it will help you tremendously.

I would think that you would be allowed to restart the match if this happened in a tourney. Would be kind of unfair otherwise.

Only thing I could think of is that the Pikmin got stuck somewhere like Dr. Hyde said. A video would be helpful so we can see exactly what is happening.

You must have missed his trophy when you collected them for everone else in the levels called 'Subspace'. Go back there and find it.
