Because it's hacking the game. We're no longer playing the game as it was designed, we're modifying it to suit our own image. I don't think there's been a single big Competitive (console) game who's ever done this. Banning things and toggling settings on and off is not the same thing as changing the game itself. We're now playing a *******ized version created by ourselves. It's the game we WANT made, we might as well make our own game. And for what reason? Is it imperative that we do it? Is Competitive Brawl doomed without it? If it is, why are we playing it in the first place? Why did we play it for 6+ months before we discovered a way to get rid of Tripping? We shouldn't have played Brawl at all, in that case. Were we holding out hope for a solution Oh, it's not imperative? Then we're just doing it for preference's sake?
Twist and turn it as much as you want, Competitive Brawl is not doomed with tripping in. The meta-game is not destroyed. It's a horrible concept and feature, but it's not necessary to remove it to play the game Competitively. Removing it is simply and exercise of preference... through hacking. Let's start hacking all of our games for Competition.
