Ah, that's a difficult question. I have a different style to most, so can't be of much use. I think I was asked this for my interview, though, so you'll get tips from that.
Best advice I can give you is that scumhunting isn't enough. Look for town tells and PR tells. Watch for lack of responsblility/disclaimers in people's speech
"Swiss' last post looked kinda icky but meh he could be town"
"Swiss' last post looked icky but he leans town"
The two posts seem similar, one I would lynch with impunity for, the other I would read as strong town tell. The second gives a stance and shows which post was disliked (would be better with reasoning, but this is out of context), the first allowed the poster to, regardless of the person's flip say "see, I did express thoughs they were that alignment" and also means that person, if a newbie, is less likely to attack you for fear of turning your read OMGUS.
Started ranting so will stop, but this is something 99% of players here simply cannot analyse and it makes me so mad.
