  • Maybe Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will have a plot twist since we don't know who the villian is or why Hyrule is being swallowed by rifts.

All people know so far (except those that have seen spoilers), when Ganon was defeated, his spear opened the rifts that appeared all over Hyrule and swallowed Link. Also, one of the Echoes of Wisdom trailers show Link being evil. I think that is where Zelda will get the sword.
Fire Emblem may sell a lot of copies and it's plenty profitable, but the cultural zeitgeist for Fire Emblem would significantly improve if it only had 3 or 4 reps in Smash. Millions of people hate Fire Emblem all because it has too many reps in Smash.

No, there isnt "millions" of people who obsess passionatelly enough with the idea of smash having a specific series character quota AND get mad enough at a series rep count to go as far as "hating" its original game without playing it. Roster obsessed fans VASTLY overestimate how much people even care about this type of thing, much less caring to the point of "hate". Even if you only count smash fans, the vast majority doesnt actually act petty mad at FE games
Thats the effect of echochambers and bubbles where the opinions are always decide by like ~20 power users at best who post all day and still think their opinions mirror the outside world perfectly. Its never the case.

I feel there are so many reps because Fire Emblem, unlike other franchises Nintendo owns, they don't have a central character. While Marth can be considered the mascot of FE, there are plenty of iconic characters that have potential to be just as deserving of entering Smash. This is the same with Pokemon, Pikachu is the mascot but so many others also deserve the rep spot as well.
Off the Hook (Marina and the Pearl Drone) should be a duo character. You would control Marina while Pearl stays in her drone form and fights using her drone abilities. And most of Marina's attacks would involve her Splat Brella.

Honestly, I'd totally be up for something like this; even if it ended up being Agent 8 with the Pearl Drone - if only because I think the weird archetype of "little thing that floats around/orbits a character and can attack somewhat independently of the main character you control" is massively underutilised, despite almost immediately thinking of two examples off the top of my head (2B and Strider)

Specifically I've always liked the idea of being able to buffer inputs loosely akin to a simplified version of Ice Climber input buffering, if only because it'd be pretty neat to literally be able to "program" your little robot companion to attack in a certain way while you follow up; and it'd be fairly unique to a lot of puppet characters who tend to control their "puppets" in real time. idk could be neat
When Octoling gets into Smash 6, her CG trailer should take place at Delfino Plaza where there's magenta ink everywhere and Mario has to use F.L.U.D.D. to clean it all up while Octoling hides in the ink and keeps shooting more for Mario to clean up.

Well, Octolings are now just as important as Inklings, Splatoon is a very important Nintendo series, and the entire country of Japan (where Nintendo is located) is in love with Splatoon, so Octoling is absolutely getting in.

Absolutely is a strong word here
If only 3 FE reps could return for Smash 6, I would pick Marth, Robin and Byleth. Marth because he's the face of the whole series, Robin because he represents tome users and the game that saved the series, and Byleth because he represents axe, lance and bow users and the most popular game in the series. Tomes, axes, lances and bows are all important weapons in Fire Emblem besides swords.
I think I now understand why people would rather ship Shulk with Melia instead of Fiora. It's because Melia has a personality outside of being a love interest for Shulk.
    M. Bison should be a boss, not a playable character, a boss, in Smash 6. We should have a player sized boss and what better character for that role than the main villian of the most iconic 2D fighting game series of all time? Plus he's not highly requested, so people wouldn't be that mad about him being an unplayable boss.
My ideas for Smash 6's bosses.

    1. King Boo.
    2. DJ Octavio.
    3. Marx.
    4. Medeus (Fire Emblem).
    5. Hades (Kid Icarus).
    6. M. Bison.
    7. Gruntilda driving the Hag 1.
    8. Master Hand.
    9. Crazy Hand.
    10. Smash 6's OC main villian.
My idea for a 35 character Smash reboot roster.

    1. Mario.
    2. Luigi.
    3. Peach.
    4. Bowser.
    5. Toad.
    6. Yoshi.
    7. Wario.
    8. DK.
    9. Link.
    10. Zelda.
    11. Ganondorf.
    12. Impa
    13. Pikachu.
    14. Jigglypuff.
    15. Charizard.
    16. Meowscarada.
    17. Kirby.
    18. King Dedede.
    19. Meta Knight.
    20. Bandana Waddle Dee.
    21. Villager.
    22. Isabelle.
    23. Inkling.
    24. Samus.
    25. Olimar.
    26. Alear.
    27. Noah & Mio.
    28. Fox.
    29. Captain Falcon.
    30. Ness.
    31. R.O.B..
    32. Sonic.
    33. PAC-MAN.
    34. Bomberman.
    35. Mii Fighters.
Before Banjo gets a new game, they should remake his first game first so new audiences can get to know him before they buy the new game. Imagine a full on Banjo-Kazooie remake where every character has a new model, every world is remade with a lot more detail, and new things that weren't in the original.
Dr. Eggman will probably betray Team Sonic once they stop Shadow. And then Shadow will help Team Sonic beat him.
I made a base game roster for Smash 6. It may be smaller than Ultimate, but Sakurai says he'd have to shrink the roster.

Also, King K. Rool, King Dedede, Cloud, Greninja, Falco, Sonic and Shulk will all be DLC in this scenario along with Sans, Bomberman, Conker and Doomslayer. Also, Paper Mario will be DLC too, but you'll be able to get him for free if you buy Smash 6 within a certain period of time.
All 12 DLC characters from Ultimate should become base game characters in Smash 6. That way they won't become lost media when the Switch eShop closes one day. When that happens, they won't be accessible anymore to people who own Smash Ultimate and haven't bought them yet. Unless we put them in Smash 6's base game.
MultiVersus and Nickelodeon All Star Brawl both failed in completely different ways, but which one failed more?
ARMS lacks both content and gameplay variety, never once justifying itself as a $60 game. At best, it's a NES game with HD graphics. But even THAT'S kind of an insult to some of the better NES games. If a sequel wants to catch on, it needs to have plenty of content and gameplay variety.
Just because the Ice Climber game didn't become popular back in the 80's doesn't mean a sequel wouldn't be popular either. If the sequel is a 10/10 masterpiece, people will buy it. So the real reason why Ice Climber never got a sequel is because no one personally wants to make one.
A character being iconic isn't the reason why you want them, you want them because you personally like them. Fortnite Jonesy is iconic, but not many Smash fans want him, they'd rather have Geno. Can we finally acknowledge that Sephiroth was a wasted slot and that it should have gone to Geno? If we needed extra FF7 content, we didn't need an extra character and stage. We could have just gotten the new FF7 spirits through Spirit Events and the new FF7 music tracks could have been sold with the Tifa, Barrett, Aerith and Chocobo costumes.

Honestly, Sephiroth was always one of my backburner wants that I thought'd just never happen given the Square situation, so while I can't speak for "the fans" on a wider scale, I can at least confidently say one person wanted him (and, looking at these comments, a few others too). It just wasn't discussed much as a possibility because - as Yeppers suggested - a lot of people (myself included) didn't really think it was possible.

Also, like KoP pointed out, the process of deciding what characters are included isn't as... personal? as some people in the community like to suggest.

If I remember correctly, there's usually a list (of sorts) of candidates for inclusion from Nintendo, which are then picked from based on a combination of feasibility, uniqueness, and moveset potential. There might be some other considerations like ballot placement and and element of personal choice (Sora and Terry spring to mind, to some extent) - but those latter points are generally much lower on the totem pole and have to work with the others. Then, after the selection process, rights can be discussed where applicable - or may already be in place, like how Steve's inclusion was in discussion since 2015.

With that in mind... I don't think Square would have put Geno on the list. And, even if they had, we all know people would just complain that Square got four DLC characters. :troll:

FF7 already had a character. If we needed a new FF rep, it could have been from a different FF game.

okay that's a fair assessment actually - sephiroth is very cool but vivi woulda been sick
In WoL, every character you rescue should have been on each map fighting other puppet fighters that would also be on each map. This way it would feel like the whole roster is working together to fight Galeem and Dharkon's armies. And if you fight a spirit flame that's next to a rescued character who's fighting a puppet fighter, the rescued character will be a CPU ally in the spirit batlle, but the puppet fighter will be an extra enemy in the spirit battle.
MultiVersus has a great roster and NASB 2 has great gameplay. If there was a Smash clone that had MultiVersus's roster and NASB 2's gameplay and roguelike mode, it would be a match made in Heaven.
The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish went in the right direction. It feels like Nick tried everything they could with more Timmy Turner adventures and nothing worked, but then they thought what if there was a show that wasn't about Timmy Turner? The very concept of A New Wish works because there's new settings, new characters and new conflicts.
The problem with Nickelodeon All Star Brawl 2's roster is that even if you don't compare it to the first game's roster, it's still not great. In a vaccum, it's fine not to have CatDog, Oblina, Hugh, Toph, Helga and Powdered Toast Man. But Rocksteady without Leo, Mikey and Shredder is insane. And Sandy, Leo, Mikey and Lincoln Loud are major Nick mascots. Why cut them? And we do not need 3 fire benders, pick one. Preferably either Zuko or Azula. Other than these things, the roster is fine enough though.
If we're adding Geno to Smash 6, we need to make sure Cloud and Hero are in it too. Otherwise fans will think Sakurai replaced iconic characters with an obscure one.
