Here's an personal opinion of mine.
I exactly don't think superhero or zombie films need to die off. What they should do is something new, different or something not done often.
Which is why I'm getting burned out by MCU films since they just keep repeating the same cookie cutter formula and humor otherwise. The only exceptions I'll be seeing are Doctor Strange 2 given it does something different which is magic and mystical arts and will be an horror and Guardians 3 (Too much of an fan to pass on). Other superhero films otherwise I'd excited for Black Adam, Shazam 2, Bloodshot (Being its an R rated film and isn't the usual heroes in tights) and Spawn (Same as Bloodshot). That's what I think superhero films should start doing more of.
As for zombie films. Here's an example. A movie on zombie dinosaurs. Heck even maybe an zombie movie set during the Ice Age where an tribe of hunters must survive an zombie apocalypse that's occurring at this time as they fend off zombie mammoths, saber-toothed cats and other zombfied tribes.
