Thanks. He seems like a nice guy, but you never know untill 3 years later or so.
I choose to use the sword over the gun because I appreciate the old ways of combat, when warriors plotted might against might. It takes a great deal of controll over physical, spiritual, and mental strength. It also takes self-discipline, pushing a man to better himself. It can also be a beauty through the art of sword-dancing, expressing one's self to the fullest. And the Code of Chivalry and Bushido, emphasizing courtesy and bravery.
It also held personal meaning to me since I was young. In elementary school there was a girl I really liked, and I wanted to be that brave knight in fairy tales rescuing her from evil dragons, haha. It just kinda stuck with me.
As for combat, I hope I don't ever have to come across a situation where I need to use a sword, especially if guns are involved. To me, a truly exceptional swordsman uses the sword to create, not to destroy. To create a sense of security, friendship, bonds, a stronger self, a better, safer environment and such. There was an old saying which I don't remember, but the bottom line was it's easier to destroy than to build.
"Courage... is not willingness to fight."
