Firmware 3.2 is the best for homebrew. Anything below firmware 4.0 works. 4.0 and above prevents homebrew from functioning properly.
Ahh, it's a total drag not to play you. For how long were you here? As for the texture mods, I first had to have homebrew installed for it to work. After that, I just followed the instructions on the link

oh video capture is a product that can record whatever is on the screen
usually costs around 70 dollars and it comes with a way to connect to your computer so you can transfer them there.
if you cant afford then yea
use a cam corder to manually record the screen lol -
