  • and yeah, we definetly should write some more stuff together. I've got another with no idea what to do with it. I'll get it to you tomorrow. Me and my girl are having long distant movie night tonight.
That's great news! Yeah, I haven't dabbled in it really, it's very intricate and requires a lot of effort if you don't have specific modules for that type of sampling, and even if you do, they're really complicated to use, partly why I hate it when ppl say that kind of music doesn't require talent, the hell it don't!
I found a local music label that specialize is noise music. Going to try to make something like Venetian Snares and get signed. Breakcore is really hard though
I thought they were good, reminded me a lot of squarepusher except he uses a lot more chromatic work, in fact I'd say its his calling card, very different in that respect and very good use of them. I especially like the Miss Balaton EP... I wouldn't say his production's off though, I didn't hear anything that sounded wrong, unintentional, shoddy, or weak... eh. :D
Heyyyyyyy, what did you think of Venetian Snares btw? Over the two years I've been listening to him, he's quickly becoming my favorite artist flat out. One of my friends likes his music but complains about his production, but if his production was clean, it wouldn't fit that cranky style he's got.
Endless Ocean is an amazing game, it is based completely on the idea of exploration. There is no danger in the game, you can eventually get equipment that will let you dive down to the pure black abyss. There are loads of things to discover, I play for hours a day and still haven't found 30 percent of the stuff hahaha. You also get to upload your own music, adding to the peaceful mode the game sets, though the soundtrack itself already sets the mood.

If the idea of petting sharks with no negative repercussions seems silly to you and a little too much, you may want to wait for Endless Ocean 2, which takes a more realistic approach.

I think you would be surprised at the age of some of the people on this site. Remember that some were college kids who started way back in 2001!

And I'm very excited to hear what you have been doing with the beat.
Sorry that I haven't gotten to sending the song to you, my jaw has been killing me.

You said something about people on the forum being intimidated by you, nah, I doubt it man. If they did, well, they would be attacking you, I could show you examples of that hahaha.
Yeah, I'm sure you can guess my IM name :p
If we can't get this, I can just upload it to a free server and we can go from there.
    Connecting to server...
    Connected, waiting for authentication
    Connection to server closed.

It just repeats this over and over. What am I doing wrong? I don't see a place to put my username in Filezilla
oh, whoops, sorry man, My wisdom teeth are coming in and its such a pain. I'll try it out now man.
Which beat are you using btw, the bass song or the glitchy 24 second one.

Also, the audio is from my favorite phillospher, poet, travel guide Speed Levitch

I'm making an entire EP (or it may turn out to be an LP) out of his speeches and monologues. Here's an example. This is from the second to last song on the album. The song itself is 17 minutes, while starting off with a very dark traditional hip-hop beat, and then brefily into a breakcore song, then back into the original beat but with a new variation, then it goes into this large trance part that sounds something like this:

It goes from there into an electric tango song, and then finally into this:

I'm mostly happy with these, though I'm going to re-do the drum track, EQ is heavier, and change up how the sample works more towards the end, and I think even do some synth work on it as well.
I know all of this sounds like it can't possibly fit as one song, but they flow very naturally into each other surprisingly. The LP will mostly be traditional hip-hop stuff, the kind of thing that hasn't kind of faded out this decade in favor of the glitchy alternative scene and the non sample based down south style that plagues the radio stations.

Here's another 20 second sample beat of what I'm cooking for this LP (actually looking at the how many songs I already have planned, its gonna be an LP). The glitcher stuff is unrelated to it.

Again, any ideas or production help is much loved!
The track hadn't been produced at all yet. I had made that song while I was in the middle of an argument and hadn't done the production work on it yet.

And yeah, I really need to either find a rapper or get my hands on some turntables or something. I write all these hip-hop beats, and then have nothing to do with them.

Here's a more produced track, though I haven't EQed out the fuzz in the background. Other than that, from all of these glitchy sounds are really suppose to sound this way.

I self taught myself my senior year in high school. I never took any lessons. I also taught myself to read music. I got a program that reads midi files and allows you to arrange music and print your own sheets and it really, really helped. It was a hobby.
