Hot take: I think being a meme is a point for a potential Smash fighter, not against. Humour, no matter how depraved or niche it may be, is an emotion - and a valuable one at that - thus characters that have brought you that emotion should be held near and dear to you. Memories of laughing at memes, reviews, and Poops of Morshu and Bubsy are no different from memories of feeling fear as you fight against Ridley or Porky in their source material, or memories of being enamoured by your first introduction to the cool attitude of Geno or Joker. It's a perfectly valid reason to like a character that shouldn't be disregarded as "irony" or coated in sarcastic self-loathing.
