So, judging from the voice over in the trailer, the Minecraft movie takes place in a scam carnival ride like the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon? That's funny to me, if D&D wasn't a tabletop RPG, that makes sense for a ride, but imagine if there was a theme park ride, in a world where Minecraft is not a game, that is just... cubes. Real world but cubes.

One thing I will give the Minecraft nightmare movie props for is the title. The idea of being "A Minecraft movie" and not "THE Minecraft movie" feels very apt for such a player-driven game.

One thing I think Smash should nab from PSASBR is how it handled menu music - you would boot up the game, and a random character would be on the main menu, and there would be a theme song variant that suited that character's vibe - dark and foreboding for Kratos or Radec, or peppy and upbeat for PaRappa or Sackboy. There were 5 themes, each assigned to a set of characters.

I actually this would work EXTREMELY well with Smash's orchestral music because orchestra, being so old, has so many variations and uses. You could keep the regular Smash music for Link or Ryu, but then have a whimsical Disney sounding Lifelight for the likes of Mario and Pikachu; a horror/Night on Bald Mountain sound for Ridley or Ganondorf; an action movie sound for Snake or Cloud; and a Can-Can style frantic sound for someone like Piranha Plant or Pac-Man. Would also be really neat with My Music.

It's kinda cool how Bad Piggies just kinda uses the Nitro boxes from Crash. When I first got into Crash I remember thinking "woah, Bad Piggies ripped this off!", but now I have a bit more familiarity with copyright, Rovio got that one fair and square, you can't copyright putting the word "nitro" on a box of nitrogen.

I think the saddest detail of the Crash 5 video, to me, is that CTRu wasn't made a live service game because Activision wanted it to be, but rather because the devs knew that was the only way the game would see the light of day and modified it as such to even get a greenlight in the first place.

That is just... wow. Capitalism, man. Adam Smith should've been turned into a baby and sent to the beginning of time by his fellow philosophers for proposing the concept.

The MySims rerelease is kinda surreal to me, because I've seen late 2000s games get remade and rereleased before, but I think this is the first time I've seen a late 2000s game repackaged if that makes sense? In the sense of the same content being marketed in a different way - I distinctly remember MySims being advertised as a power fantasy game, so it's a bit surreal to see it advertised as a "cozy game" in the same way that the ragtime slapstick chase game Pac-Man was remarketed to my generation as a techno dubstep rave, even though - unlike my Pac-Man example - cozy is an infinitely more apt description of MySims and how it should have been marketed in the first place.

I think it's not worth dwelling on individual actions within Smash discourse, it's all Nintendo and capitalism's fault that we acted the way we did, none of us were much better than anyone else, and generally caring about drama between random internet people with no fame whatsoever is cringe...

THAT BEING SAID, I still think a lot about how Geno fans tried to start a charity for the sake of getting Geno in Smash as some kind of bizarre reward.
